BREAKING: The FlyDubai co-pilot accused of stabbing the captain of a passenger jet mid-flight and nearly causing a catastrophic crash has been identified as 29-year-old Omani national Hamam al-Hammami.
He was reportedly grounded by Oman Air in 2024 over concerns he had adopted radical Islamic views.

One of the Israeli passengers who subdued the pilot-hijacker on board flydubai FZ 1073 told PM Netanyahu that the stabbed captain managed to open the cockpit door before collapsing. This enabled the passengers to enter and seize the attacker, as he was attempting to destroy the aircraft systems and crash the plane.

The Saudis treated the passengers with care, professionalism and legendary Saudi hospitality.

Today we are incredibly grateful for the courage and quick action by pilot Cpt. Smit Machchhar who was stabbed by his copilot on FZ1073, yet still managed to open the cockpit door and call for help before collapsing. His heroism in the moment of crisis saved over 170 lives today.

Congratulations to Jordan 🇯🇴 and its armed forces.
The Iranian terror regime fired 20 ballistic missiles at Jordan. Jordanian air defenses intercepted 18. The other two fell in unpopulated areas. No casualties were reported.
Iran’s missiles and proxies threaten countries across the Middle East. Jordan demonstrated what strong air defenses, preparedness and professionalism can accomplish.

In response to media inquiries, a State Department spokesperson said:
In 2006, Hizballah destroyed South Lebanon by trying to kidnap Israelis and hold remains to exchange for detainees. Today, as a result of U.S.-led mediation between two legitimate governments, Israel is releasing detainees and Lebanon is helping Israel recover the lost remains of Lebanese Jews.
At the last round of Rome talks in August, Israel and Lebanon had direct bilateral conversations on meaningful civilian issues for both sides. Ambassador Issa and Ambassador Huckabee finalized the release of detainees on Ambassador Issa’s trip to Israel.
We commend the Government of Israel and the Government of Lebanon for demonstrating good faith through these initial steps, and hope this will serve as the basis for expanded discussions on other civilian issues.
We continue to facilitate dialogue between Israel and Lebanon on a daily basis and look forward to the next round of talks in Rome. We remain committed to the full implementation of the Trilateral Framework.

We strongly condemn the continued violent attacks by Israeli extremists against Palestinians in the West Bank this past weekend.
We welcome recent actions by the IDF and Israeli security forces to respond but remain concerned that this violence continues to escalate without accountability.
