It must be so frustrating to be a Conservative politician and to have all these fantastic ideas for how to make the country better so soon after having 14 years in power when all they did was make the country worse.

They show a trend rather different to the social-media narrative about London...

Lord Sumption, former supreme court judge, says Robert Jenrick's plan for lord chancellor (justice sec) to appoint judges would be serious mistake.
"If judges were appointed in today’s polarised world by the lord chancellor, I do not think the public would have the same confidence in their independence.
"They’re actually appointed by the judicial appointments commission, which is an independent, non-political body, and it looks for the same qualities in the judges it appoints.
"The only possible reason for going back to the old system would be to appoint judges who were less independent or more political than the ones appointed by the judicial appointments commission.
"In the United States, the supreme court has become subservient to the president and enabled him to behave like an autocrat. I think that that is a very serious business in the United States, and we should be very careful to take take warning from it."

Britain pays wind farms to turn off when it’s windy and overpays gas plants to switch on instead. It'll cost bill payers up to £8b/yr by 2030. Zonal energy pricing would slash this.

The Economist estimates that the annual costs of Reform UK’s manifesto would be around £200bn and savings around £100bn. The gap would amount to a colossal fiscal shock, blowing up the deficit and straining the gilt market to its limit econ.st/4jGgTfP

Dom’s rant tells you all you need to know about him - Firstly he always plays “the man not the ball”.That’s because of his deep insecurities and anger that the world doesn’t believe he is a guru. His tweet also reveals he is not the intellectual actual giant he thinks he is. 1/14

Ronald Reagan: “Our peaceful trading partners are not our enemies; they are our allies.
We should beware of the demagogues who are ready to declare a trade war against our friends—weakening our economy, our national security, and the entire free world—all while cynically waving the American flag.”

This is completely wrong and populism at it's height.
Rules on 'disclosure' are clear
If Tice had sat in Court and witnessed an abuser be asked 'What did the officer say to you?' to get the reply 'He said - you have been accused of this before' - for the Judge to immediately halt proceedings and dismiss the jury due to 'previous disclosure' and prejudicing the trial - he would not be ranting on live TV
That was 2 years work - gone in an instant and the perpetrator walking free
It is exactly the reason previous convictions are not disclosed until sentencing
"The Prime Minister is continuing to deliberately mislead the British people to continue suiting his own narrative."

Farmers are being squeezed out.
Not by IHT, but by tax-dodgers.
Those same tax-dodgers who are now supported by, er, farmers.
