The vile comments on this post offer a snapshot of what Jewish people face daily. I’m not Jewish, but I’ve had a torrent of abuse since calling out antisemitism in schools. It’s not acceptable and these people are gross.
It is a stain on us as a society that Jewish children are frightened to go to school in Britain in 2026. I welcome Sir David Bell's review & thank those brave enough to share their experiences. Warm words will not be enough, the recommendations must be properly enforced.

Replying to @RichardBurgon
So you think that buying it from other countries which means they can keep drilling is a better option?

Our politicians are increasingly little more than a bunch of pontificating pixies. They should be running the country without fuss or show instead of wasting time with this performative nonsense.

🚨 NEW: Labour says all council power-sharing agreements with the Green Party will end unless their local groups condemn the “Zionism is racism” motion

I have officially resigned from the Green Party and will currently sit as an independent Cllr A statement to the people of Waterloo Today I have made the incredibly difficult decision to resign from the Green Party. As things stand, I will now sit as an Independent councillor for Waterloo. I'm 23. I grew up here, walked these streets as a little boy and couldn't be prouder to now represent the community I call home. I didn't get into politics for a career or a party badge. I got into it to help people and make my community better. At Green Party Conference, a motion was passed declaring Zionism a form of racism and committing the party to oppose it. I had serious concerns about what this could mean for Jewish members. Being Jewish does not make someone a Zionist. Jewish people hold many different views on Israel and Zionism. An amendment was put forward saying members should not be pressured or disciplined simply because they attend or are connected to Jewish institutions such as synagogues or community centres. It also sought to ensure Jewish members weren't punished for views that wouldn't see non-Jewish members punished. I voted for it. It was rejected. I then voted against the final motion. I saw Jewish members in tears afterwards. I won't forget that. I came back to Waterloo knowing I couldn't look residents in the face and defend something I believe is wrong. I will always stand up for Palestinian freedom and speak out against the actions of the Israeli Government. But I can do that while standing with our Jewish community against antisemitism. We must be able to do both. I fear the Green Party is heading to a very dark place. I cannot follow it there. If that means my political career ends at 23, so be it. I'm not leaving Waterloo. I'll still be here, taking up your casework, fighting your corner and doing everything I can for the community I love.

The #GreenParty has been taken over by extremists & has embraced blatant anti-semitism. Once a party that many welcomed into the national debate on important issues especially climate change, the Green Party now belongs in the rubbish bin of British politics

Proud to be a Zionist. Proud to be British. Proud to stand against ALL forms of racism. Proud that I cannot be a Green Party member. That’s it.

Chancellor John Healey has warned of a "tough budget". What he means is tough for workers, and easy on the feckless, illegals, and foreign 'causes'. Labour are not the party of the British working class. They're champagne socialists who seek power through grievance politics.

We didn’t vote for you to make any tweaks at all. You effectively bought a seat in the Commons from someone you’ve since promoted to a well-paid role, and ousted the sitting PM. You’ve no mandate beyond his manifesto. All the cheeky chappy clichés in the world won’t change that.
I didn’t become Prime Minister to just make a few tweaks around the edges. I want to change the way this country works. For too long, politics became comfortable with the idea that some things just can't be fixed. People sleeping on our streets. Huge inequalities between different parts of the country. Young people unable to afford a home. Communities watching decisions about their future being taken somewhere else, by someone else. Governments have talked about those things. They've even promised to fix them. But too often, they've reached the same conclusion: it just can't be done. I don't accept that, and I never have. That’s why we’ve invested to offer everyone who needs it a route off the streets by Christmas. It's why we've announced the biggest council housebuilding programme since the Second World War. It's why we're opening 159 new mental health centres. It's why we've finally put technical education on par with the academic route. It's why we're delivering the biggest transfer of power out of Westminster and into local communities in a generation. And it's why we opened No10 North too. Not as another government office. But because I believe one thing very strongly: Britain won't be rebuilt from the top down. You have to put power back in the hands of the people and places that know their communities best - and then put the full weight of government behind them. I also want to give people a bit of breathing space too. That's why we've cut tax on electricity bills, capped bus fares at £2, and made subscriptions easier to cancel. It’s why we've cracked down on fake discounts and cut business rates for pubs, social clubs and music venues. And it's why we've extended the 16-17 Saver Railcard and introduced free 24/7 bus travel for disabled people. That is the change we have started. More power for our communities, more support on the cost of living and a long-term plan to rebuild the country. Each one of those changes is part of the same thing. Good growth in every postcode. Reindustrialising Britain. And making sure wherever you live - and whatever your background - you feel this country has a future for you. Because, in the end, that's what this is about: bringing back hope.

They’re shameless.
You cheeky madam @LucyMPowell - Louise Haigh said you were both scheming for a year with Burnham to oust Starmer and then threatened him that if he didn’t resign it would be “brutal and nasty” That’s not free will

Louise Haigh and Lucy Powell got what they wanted. Now they have more difficult task of showing they are capable. I have doubts.

Just watched Burnham speaking at the launch of the #BayeuxTapestry and it was embarrassing - he’s definitely not a statesman #BurnhamCoup

That's what makes me absolutely sick about some of these MP's, disgraceful, I watched Johnny Reynolds too, lying through his teeth about the public wanting Keir Starmer to go, rubbish, it was a few very nasty MP's who plotted to usurp Starmer and bring in Burnham, appalling.
I am absolutely disgusted with Johnny Reynolds for saying that they got rid of Keir Starmer as the public wanted it, NO the #PLP wanted it, & for his sychophantic worshipping of St. Andy Burnham. He is a complete TRAITOR. The smarm dripped out of him. #newsnight

I feel desperately sorry for the family of Dr A, and can see no constructive purpose in naming him now. If all NHS staff were sacked for sharing information about patients they cared for in confidence, there wouldn't be many still working.

People telling me I'm "not being helpful" & I should get behind Burnham. I remember telling people the same about Starmer while they laughed. It just doesn't work like that. I have a particular dislike of back stabbers. Starmer is 1000 times better & I won't pretend otherwise

I felt sad to hear Keir Starmer stand down as an MP, but who could blame him, he was the leader who gave the Labour Party great success, he was usurped as PM by Burnham and his disgusting Coup, I'll never forgive Burnham and his cohorts for what they did, they're all traitors.
I’m sorry to see Keir Starmer stand down as an MP, he is a good man who saved the Labour Party, sent us toward domestic stability and led on the world stage. We are entering uncertain times on defence and security. We need the skills, leadership and experience of Sir Keir Starmer on the global stage. He is a man led by service and I expect this is by no means the end.

I had a wry smile today when I learned that Starmer had announced his plans to step down as an MP on the first day of the new parliamentary session. He owes Burnham no favours and I can understand why he wouldn’t want to work alongside a PLP that stitched him up. Good luck to him

"A man of dignity in an age of indignity." It's a perfect description of @Keir_Starmer. This is pinned to @JohnSlinger timeline. He's always been clear-eyed about what a good PM Keir Starmer was and the shocking way he was treated. Thanks John. 🙏
A man of dignity in an age of indignity. Thank you @Keir_Starmer for your service to our country. You didn’t deserve this.

Keir led Labour from its worst defeat since 1935 to a landslide victory in 2024.  His work as Prime Minister left the country in a better place than he found it. Thank you, Keir, for all your service & all best wishes to you & your family for the future. camdennewjournal.co.uk/artic…
