These boys went to preschool together 20 yrs ago. They ran around together so much, we dubbed them “The Three Amigos.” Today, Bryan (middle) made his MLB debut for the Mariners in Arlington, Texas — and Trevin (my son) and Jason were both there to watch. So cool! Congrats, Bryan!
Atlanta’s Angel Reese gently complains about not getting calls from the refs — and then her coach, Karl Smesko, rips them, saying physicality allowed on Reese is “ridiculous.”
Early story from Chase, by @ShaynaRubin: sfchronicle.com/sports/artic…
Valkyries lead 25-22 after offensively challenged first half. WNBA's top two defenses cranking up the intensity, as you'd expect with Finals tied 2-2. Burton leads GSV with nine points. Gabby Williams struggling (1-8 from field). Reese with 5 points/10 rebounds for Atlanta
Lots of energy here for Game 5 of WNBA Finals. Good, early omen for @valkyries: Defensive-minded center Kiah Stokes scored more points (4) in tonight’s first five minutes than her career average (3.3).
Ross was a class act. One of the best business and always had time for young scribes. Very sad news.
If there was a Mount Rushmore of ball writers, Ross Newhan would be on it. He was a giant in the biz, a Hall-of-Famer who spent much of his 43-year career covering @MLB for the LA Times. He was a mentor to myself and so many others, a friend to all. Ross died today at 89. RIP💔
Former Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer reflects on Natalie Nakase as a player and lauds Nakase’s impact as a coach in guiding @valkyries to WNBA Finals: sfchronicle.com/sports/artic…
From late last night:
Warriors’ Yaxel Lendeborg lamented his six turnovers in Friday night's deflating loss to Memphis, then defended his verbal jousting with Luka Doncic two nights earlier. "He's not Michael Jordan," Lendeborg said. Story from Chase Center: sfchronicle.com/sports/warri… via @sfchronicle

#Warriors really needed this game with trip to Phoenix-Denver-Minnesota. Epic collapse to blow 12-point lead in final 3:47. Turnovers (19) still an issue, and lack of size. Grizzlies center Zach Edey plus-25 in only 22 minutes
Good read here
Steve Kerr returned to coach the Golden State Warriors knowing circumstances would be different. They turned out to be daunting. Those around Kerr say he’s refreshed by the challenge. sfchronicle.com/sports/warri…
Doncic is an elite player, obviously, but Yaxel is absolutely right about the constant whining. Such a bad look
Asked #Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg about the Luka Doncic matchup. He said he “lost all respect” for Doncic.
On Steph Curry, age and history as #Warriors great embarks on his 18th NBA season: sfchronicle.com/sports/warri…
Atlanta’s Angel Reese didn't mince words last night in Game 2. "Give me the f---ing ball," she shouted, repeatedly. Her teammates did exactly that, and now the @valkyries are on their heels. Story: sfchronicle.com/sports/artic… via @sfchronicle
Gabby Williams and the power of a math nerd. My story from Game 1 of WNBA Finals:

Tiffany Hayes was 0-for-8 from the field before launching and making that rainbow 3-point shot to trim Valkyries' deficit to three
One more time, ahead of today's Game 1: How Kiah Stokes' under-the-radar poise -- and ferocious rebounding -- has pushed the @valkyries to the WNBA Finals. sfchronicle.com/sports/artic… via @sfchronicle
