“In other words, it's this confusion with the concept of election that divorces election from believing loyalty and I've commented before that I think election in the Old Testament is fundamentally misunderstood. Again, Israel was elect, no kidding. Duh.
Okay, that's very obvious. It's just too bad that a lot, maybe even most Israelites, you're not going to see in heaven. Why?
Because there's this thing called the exile. Okay, a grand apostasy of the elect and then you have the non-elect, those who aren't Israelites, being grafted in. Well, how does that happen?
If everything's written in these books beforehand, you know what? How can that change? Again, what Owen is saying is it's wrongheaded to think of this in predestinarian modes because things do change.
Okay, the non-elect become elect, the elect again go off and worship other gods and they're out. Okay, things change. We have fundamentally misunderstood this idea.”

When God breathed His life into mankind, He placed within each of us an incredibly precious gift—one that must never be taken lightly. The Sixth Commandment teaches us that we cannot destroy that which we did not create.
"The Deliverer & The Ten Commandments" explores how the Messiah expands this commandment to reach our words, our anger, and our treatment of others. Get your copy at heiserfoundation.myshopify.c…

We’re almost there! This project proved more difficult than we could have imagined. But @wmgrace & I are finishing the final post-submission edits now & we are excited how this book turned out.
“Saving the Saga: Myth, Meaning, and the Beauty of Star Wars” should be out in 2027.
Matthew 7:15
I’m so excited to announce our first docuseries, exposing “Prophet” GeorDavie and his disciple Kathryn Krick. Despite claims of being a man of God, survivors of GeorDavie’s alleged sexual abuse say he is a cunning wolf in sheep’s clothing. And Krick, they say, is 💯 under his wicked control. Watch for it to drop soon!

Cornelius

The real question is why is he called righteous devout man who feared God
"righteous" (often translated from the Hebrew tzaddik or Greek dikaios) means being in right standing with God and living in accordance with His moral standards.
The Historical Meaning: He Was a "God-Fearer" In the first century, "God-fearer" (phoboumenos ton theon) was an informal but well-understood term for a Gentile (non-Jew) who worshiped the God of Israel but had not fully converted to Judaism.
Many Romans and Greeks grew disillusioned with pagan gods and emperor worship. They were attracted to Jewish monotheism and high moral standards.
As a "God-fearer," Cornelius:
1. Rejected polytheism to worship Yahweh, the one true God.
2. Attended the synagogue and studied the Old Testament scriptures.
3. Stopped short of full conversion because he chose not to undergo circumcision or adopt strict Jewish dietary laws. Because he was not circumcised, strict Jews still considered him ceremonially "unclean" and would not eat with him or enter his house—which is the exact barrier God breaks down later in Acts 10.2.
The Spiritual Meaning: Holy Awe and Respect Beyond his religious label, Cornelius's fear of God was an internal, active reverence that transformed his lifestyle. In scripture, "fearing God" does not mean being terrified of Him; it means having a deep, respectful awe of God's power, holiness, and authority.
For Cornelius, this reverence manifested in three ways:
1. Household Leadership: He didn't keep his faith private; he led his entire family and his servants to respect and worship God as well.
2. Generosity (Alms): His fear of God gave him a love for God's people, prompting him to give financial and charitable aid generously to the local Jewish community.
3. Devoted Prayer: He regularly sought God's guidance and honored Him through continuous prayer.
Yet no one seeks God. 🤷♂️ None of what Cornelius did and his faith as well as how his faith played out support any Calvinist view whatsoever. All of what is listed above was before Peter came to him and witnessed to him. At that point the Holy Spirit fell upon him and his household.
This is about who Cornelius was as a person and not just religious acts.

It appears to me that the SBC is moving towards the mentality of William Wolfe, who’s view of Black Southern Baptist Churches is racist, and wrong. Wolfe’s view is counter culture to the spirit of the SBC ‘19, that wisely would not condemn CRT, and the Indianapolis, Dallas, and I believe Nashville votes, that would not ratify the Law/Sanchez/Mohler type amendments.
Could be wrong but, if the Mohler Amendment passes, the end result is there will either be a trickling effect of Black churches leaving, or a fairly large departure.
There’s been a radical shift I sense in the SBC from really wanting Black Churches, to now only want Black Churches who are willing to embrace extra-biblical/bfm2k thinking regarding crt/women in ministry/republican politics/Maga mindsets, and other issues.
The Indianapolis decision will be a major turning point or reestablishing trust, between NAAF SBC churches and the SBC.

If racist WW represents the essence of the SBC nowadays, I’d rather all of us leave and let it burn to the ground as it deserves. Then he can go back to the Presbyterians who fund him and he can destroy their denomination too.
