Kinda pointless to have a 145+ IQ if you’re easily susceptible to flattery in a way most 85 IQ hicks are instantly suspicious of and see coming from a mile away

FBI profilers figured out serial killers will tell you how they killed somebody and where they dumped the body if you make them feel in control.

Tips such as ‘eat hearty meals’ and ‘use blankets’ make more sense when you realise this stuff, like the previous ‘why are the days getting shorter’ is increasingly aimed at an audience from places with no winter.

This is so disingenuous because there isn't some vast spectrum of individuality amongst "queers", but the opposite, extremely rigid archetypes you do everything you can to mold yourselves into, clone armies of liliths with the exact same personality.

My uncle was a quiet depressive man. At family picnics he’d stare into his beer in silence. Then someone would bring up the war. He’d spring to life, spit flying from his mouth as he described in vivid detail his days slaughtering the Vietcong, a light in his eyes I’ve never seen

I have a friend who's really into zfs. She talks a lot about what a great filesystem it is. But she seems to spend most of her time fighting with zfs and zfs snapshots and zfs misconfigurations and "making sure the wrong data isn't erased during startup" ... 1/

In laymans terms,
Titanium implants are strong and the body accepts them, but they’re way too stiff
because the metal takes almost all the pressure, the real bone next to it gets lazy and starts to weaken over time (like a muscle that doesn’t get used).
This was the issue with earlier titanium implants and joint replacements
the new implant though are made from a special zinc alloy shaped like a lightweight, sponge-like lattice
it is flexible and almost like real bone, so it shares the load properly and doesn’t cause that weakening problem
Whats REALLY fucking cool is that its also designed to dissolve over time
So its a temporary implant, and as it dissolves, it releases minerals and ions that actually promote your new, healthy bone in its place
When the job is done, the implant is mostly gone and your own bone has taken over and is the proper strength
-medical engineering is a marvel
today while talkin to my friend (who’s a doctor) I learned something really crazy
That the titanium implants don't just sit in bone they actually bone grows into them
the oxide layer on titanium surface is chemically close enough to biological tissue that cells can't find the boundary so they erase it
osseointegration isn't the implant holding on it's biology deciding the metal belongs there
the skeleton adopts the foreign object as its own

Butterbean had a fascinating phenotype
Built like an refrigerator with wide ribcage, short short arms
But absolutely hellacious rotational power and is body structure and not having a neck made him impossible to knockout
His physical constraints led him to develop a wholly unique style that was victorious against most Pros
he was never going to Top 20 elite, but outside of that, he could beat everyone else
BUTTERBEAN KNOCKS ED WHITE CLEAN THROUGH THE ROPES IN LAS VEGAS
On April 12, 1997, Eric Butterbean Esch faced towering Ed White for the IBA super heavyweight title.
White used his seven-inch height advantage and long jab to control the early exchanges and keep Butterbean at bay.
The opening round stayed competitive as Ed White landed clean shots while Butterbean pressed forward undeterred.
In the second round Butterbean found his range with heavy overhand rights and looping hooks that staggered White.
A big right hand dropped Ed White early, and he rose with a look of resignation in his eyes.
Butterbean followed with a left-right combination that sent White tumbling through the ropes and out of the ring.
Referee Joe Cortez waved off the fight at 1:14, awarding Butterbean the TKO and retaining his title.

It’s horrifying to me that history’s most barbaric forms of cruelty against women (foot binding, FGM) were always inflicted by mothers on their daughters

One big reason is that 30 years ago you _could_ understand the computer.
I have a copy of The Undocumented PC that laid it all out - for 1990s era hardware. Today? Forget it. None of the hardware is documented, your best bet is Linux drivers but even then there’s a surprising number of binary blobs that come with it.
The manual that came with the SoundBlaster 16 had assembly language snippets for writing your own driver, and it was pretty simple.
Today’s high-performance hardware is just so much more of an effort to get going. Likewise single-CPU machines with BIOS interrupts, much simpler than today with ACPI, NUMA, etc. You really have no choice but to rely on others to provide the understanding you lack, in the form of libraries etc.
There’s just a lot more going on under the hood. LLMs came at just the right time to help fill in some of these gaps in knowledge. The future is bright.
But I don’t fault anyone for being clueless, the field is huge and deep.
