Gemini 4 Carbon is looking REALLY impressive on Artificial Analysis!!!
Carbon High is now sitting at #1 with 60 points.
But look at Carbon LOW.
It scores 54, just ONE point behind GPT-6.1 Sol on MAX reasoning!!!
And Google still hasn't made Carbon publicly available through the API.
I'm starting to wonder how much better Carbon will feel than Argon once it finally lands in Antigravity.
Google, can we PLEASE get access already???
"But somehow ours ended up better."
Better than what? On which metrics?
I asked Sol to check one of the Dessa demos (a dialog about movies) from the blog and identify factual issues from the transcripts (most of the demos are casual chit-chat or role-playing). Here are a few:
• 0:09 — “I have seen the first two and I am looking forward to the third one.” Nolan’s third Batman film came out in 2012.
• 2:18 — Asked who Bryan Singer is: “Superman Returns and Superman IV, or The Quest for Peace.” Superman IV was directed by Sidney J. Furie.
A dialog model which is trained on both text+speech would have this knowledge, or could do a web search to obtain it. One could add more knowledge by having real humans record conversations about it, but that would cost a few thousand more $. Alternatively, you could use TTS, but that defeats the purpose of a "natural dialog".
Most labs had some version of "speech-only" models ~2 years ago, and quickly realized the challenges in making them smart enough for any real value. This led to the adoption of joint text-speech training using autoregressive transformers where you can represent both modalities in a shared embedding space.
- This lets you learn knowledge from text, and dialog behavior from speech.
- It also lets you prompt easily with text to control the model behavior, support tool calling, do mixed-modality outputs (e.g., the model can write a bulleted itinerary for you while summarizing it in voice).
- When running out of context, you can compact the conversation in text which takes up one-fifth of speech tokens as a rule of thumb.
But you are welcome to reinvent the wheel if you have enough money, I guess.
Block trained its new voice AI entirely on speech, without using any text.
Dessa lead @RagavanThurair says even his team didn't expect it to develop such strong language understanding:
"It's trained entirely on speech, which is crazy. This company's training it just on speech, they have less data, it's a lot harder, how the hell are they gonna learn language like that? But somehow ours ended up better."
"I thought we would have to have text to get to this level of conversation understanding. We didn't expect it would learn language this good."
"People have done this before, like GSLM and Hertz-dev. The big gap is ours has a really strong understanding of language and you can actually have a realistic conversation with it."

people are like “why do LLMs always think they’re in an eval lol” and then have bad dreams about forgetting to turn in a homework assignment 10 years ago

Voice Remixing is now live in Gemini 3.8 Flash TTS.
Fine-tune voices without starting from scratch. Pick from over 2K preset library voices or custom designed voices in @GoogleAIStudio and the Gemini API to dial in timbre, pitch, pace, and accent using simple prompts.
How it works:
✅ Start from any preset or designed voice
✅ Prompt adjustments for pitch, pace, accent, or timbre (like "soften the delivery")
✅ Audition three generated takes and save your favorite
Try "Remix this voice" in @GoogleAIStudio today.
I absolutely love the new Antigravity look.. so sleek!
~ We might finally get Context and Quota indicator.. not sure if it will be this week but it's coming for sure..
~ Antigravity voice mode will be powered by Gemini live and the UI looks so clean..
~ The animations, response streaming and overall app feels so fluid that i can't wait for it to be officially upstream..
Tbh these are the kinds of upgrades i was hoping for agy and this paired with Gemini 4 Carbon would be so good!

Many of the ideas I have been posting about here, such as massive swarms, agent orchestration, advanced harnesses etc. we are applying actively internally.
This is a new paper that I am a coauthor on -
"XLA from the Trenches: Correctness on TPU Workloads at Scale"
We used specialized harnesses + massive swarms to find and fix hundreds of bugs in the XLA TPU compiler (very subtle bugs too).
It's worth a read!

Google AI Ultra's usage limits are actually INSANE!!!
I've been using Gemini 4 Argon High EVERY SINGLE DAY in Antigravity, and I still can't exhaust my quota.
My weekly limit resets in 6 minutes, and I STILL have 39% left!!!
Never hit the 5-hour limit either.
Google is being ridiculously generous with Ultra.

Turns out that human slop code is a much bigger problem than AI slop code.

While most jack-o-lanterns just sit on porches, the @GoogleDeepMind team decided to let AI agents design, simulate, and bring one to life. 🎃🤖
We built a physical, dancing 12 degrees of freedom robot directly from a single plain-English prompt, with no manual CAD required!

So you're telling me the guys who own the only ai hardware that's not a GPU, the datacenters, the model, and the user's entire life data just gapped 11% down? on an EPS miss? And you think the market understands what's happening?

🚨 Google Gemini 4 Carbon is a comeback of the year
world knowledge , least hallucination and literally 0% success in prompt injection
most aligned and omniscient model ever , @OfficialLoganK pls i hope this is not benchmaxxed , i really want 2.5 pro AURA now
cheaper than 6 Astra and Opus 5.5

PREDICTION - Google overtakes OpenAI and potentially Anthropic by year end
swapping all our gpt 6.1 sol, terra and sonnet 5.5 workloads with gemini 4 argon
it’s just better
upcoming gemini 4 carbon release will beat opus 5.5
it almost seems inevitable

Very excited to share Genie 4, our incredible interactive world model, bringing together real-time physics, reasoning, and audio! Simulations within simulations, makes you wonder just how deep the rabbit hole goes... I have a feeling we will be finding out soon enough...

Google DeepMind researchers have developed:
AudioFM, a self-supervised framework for general-purpose audio representations.
How it works: a student sees time- or frequency-masked spectrograms, predicts the masked patch representations, and has to pick the matching full-view EMA-teacher target from candidates in other recordings. Plus weaker supervision from masked temporal neighbors.
Results: on linear probing it achieves the best or joint-best performance on 10 of 12 tasks.
Something particularly interesting: beats prior audio SSL on heart murmur (+4.7 F1) & sleep apnea subtype (+3.2 F1) classification! (audio FMs are very important in medical AI!)

An early look at Genie 4, our new frontier world model, coming soon to the API for the first time : )

Had early access to Genie 4 from @GoogleDeepMind.
This is a fully generated, interactive world from a single starting prompt (environment + character) 🤯
Feels like a massive step forward - you can now prompt to change the world and interact with it. With native audio!

WTF, $3000 Samsung TV has an always-on mic, automatic content recognition, geo tracking, network mapping, and ships your data to Samsung + 400 partners.
Bro Rooted a brand-new 2025 Samsung TV after noticing absurdly targeted ads.
Firmware was locked down, so zero-days it was.
Got a root shell.
then found: always-on voice service, ACR, geo, full telemetry pipeline, and four separate DRM systems.
This isn’t a bug, It’s the product bro.

Removed all of the samsung spyware from my TV with Codex (Claude refused to root the tv lol)
It's insane how much bloat samsung packs into their TVs to track you and sell your data. Here's just some of what I turned off that made my tv 3x faster:
- screenshot your screen a few times a second to see what you're streaming and fingerprint you to sell your data
- reading your hdmi inputs to do the same thing while you have a game console plugged in
- Voice assistants: Bixby wake-word detectors listening and tracking what you say in your house
Before and after speed of my TV:
