If thereās anyone in the list of candidates who havenāt been a MLB manager yet, this is the guy Iād give a first shot to with confidence.
Real managing experience inside an org where player dev and preparing the ānext guy upā is a priority.
Iām ok with the idea of Pujoles, but give me Ensberg first.
I tried to explain this to someone recently when they were saying "the players are just as greedy as the owners so they'll never go for a cap/floor" (their recent reply to the MLB's proposal says as much).
For baseball to be such a numbers related "business", there's someone on the player's side who isn't mathin' the math very well....
Could this save us a 2027 baseball season????
I mean...it's a take. It's not a bad one when you really think about it. Fight me!
āIf youāre an Astros fan, you are lucky to have Jim Crane as an owner.ā
@ErikKratz31 and @ScottBraun explain why theyād rather have an owner who stays aggressive and demands sustained winning.
Cheers, Jake from Rake Farm!
Cleared waivers and elected free agency.
Sources: The #Astros are designating CF Jake Meyers for assignment, which will clear a 40-man roster spot as Meyers is due to come off the 60-day IL.
Just feels like it would be a "good ole boy hire" to fit the org's status quo and simply roll with the current power arrangement.
Not so much hate towards Brad himself...no one knows if he really is a good manager because he had nothing but crap to use in his previous stints.
The difference in body language between the Dana Brown presser and the Flores presser today seem to be very significant to me.
Crane's posture is the most noticeable. Shockingly like he was just letting Flores handle it...where as he seemed much more engaged in the Brown presser....checking on Dana many times while he spoke.
The power arrangement seems a bit different between these two....just my opinion.
Ok y'all....settle down, Ausmus was here Thursday, Flores got hired on Friday....take a deep breath and let's not completely lose our minds yet.
I think this sums upā¦at least part of it. Whether it was the āpower structureā or the contract issue, Crane was unwilling to do what it took to get āthe guy for the jobā.
Even if Crane was cool with Kleineās ask for the reins in whole, he wasnāt willing to pony up a few extra million (who really knows how much) to break the threshold of putting the man in the seat. That says a lot.
This isnāt to say anything about Flores.
Seeing these Cards fans comments, has me almost a little excited about Flores.
Randy Flores is leaving the #STLCards to become the Astrosā new GM
He oversaw the drafts that brought in Masyn Winn, Jordan Walker and JJ Wetherholt, among others
A significant departure for the Cardinals and another position Chaim Bloom will need to fill
LFG!!
Milwaukee Brewers executive Matt Kleine is the focus of the Astrosā GM search, multiple sources tell @TheAthletic. No deal has been finalized or agreed upon, but Kleine is the Astrosā choice - nytimes.com/athletic/7712356ā¦
Ohhā¦.
This was for a role as assistant general manager, source tells @TheAthletic. Ocampo interviewed on Monday.
