Everyone at this rally is so bored & cognitively switched off they all just stare blankly as she delivers the single most universally unappealing line in American political history
This is such an insane thing to say out loud. No wonder Ashley Moody has been campaigning from the basement. ā€œWhen you stand up for representing the BOSSES and putting THEM first…we will thrive.ā€ Florida, vote @AngieNixon to stand up for working people.

Honestly impressive that it was so clear she was insane, and the Tories still put her in power

The government could be systematically harvesting the blood of working people to give to pensioners and I still don't think they'd recognise that government policy tends to favour them.
Does government policy tend to favour pensioners or working people? Pensioners: 23% Working people: 25% Both equally: 19% 18-24 year olds Pensioners 34% / Workers 14% 65+ year olds Pensioners 7% / Workers 41%

Part of the genius with this stuff is the negative polarisation, when people start attacking perfectly sensible and helpful - albeit small - changes. Actually I want longer post office queues please!
🚨 NEW: Andy Burnham has announced five "everyday fixes" ahead of the Budget 1. Carer's Allowance will be changed so carers no longer lose their entire benefit when they earn over the limit - instead, their support will reduce by £1 for every extra £1 they earn 2. Import tariffs will be removed on more than 100 products, including baked beans, chocolate and gherkins, to save households up to £21 on their food shop a year 3. Tax-free mileage rates for workers using their own cars will be made permanent at 55p per mile for the first 10,000 miles, with the rate for additional miles rising from 25p to 35p 4. Parental pay will be extended to over 150,000 more parents a year, including self-employed fathers and partners 5. Hundreds more Post Office drop boxes will be rolled out to save people queueing at branches

Happy anniversary to The Times They Are a-Changin', the truly cursed Bob Dylan Broadway musical that opened on this date in 2006 (and closed a couple weeks later). For "Like a Rolling Stone," they had the whole cast—wait for it—roll around on stones.

This sneering attitude to Googlebox, a perfect example of modern working class popular culture, is what epitomises the Greens and the understanding of class dynamics. I love Googlebox and I don’t think it’s beneath the PM to understand that engaging with the things that ordinary people enjoy is a good thing
'Is that a really good use of his time?' 'Raising money for a cancer charity?' The Green Party's @floschechter brands Andy Burnham going on Gogglebox as 'ridiculous'.

When people say ā€œthis isn’t Man Unitedā€, what they’re really saying is that it isn’t Fergie’s Man United. They’ve been shit now for 13 years since he left and they were shit for 25 years before he joined

I think the fact that Marissa Mayer would voluntarily disclose this to a reporter is a pretty good demonstration of how deeply the culture of Silicon Valley has diverged from the rest of humanity

Simon Heffer’s final pars in his review of Liz Truss’ new book. Of all the best examples of the Westminster unreality machine, where parts of the illiberal metropolitan elite and press build someone up clearly beyond their abilities, she was by far the worst. Zero accountability, of course.

A really useful one-minute explainer on how to destroy your political reputation in exchange for a lot of money.
Nobody wants to buy a service they can’t walk away from. Palantir’s critics have long claimed we ā€˜lock in’ our customers. We don’t. This short film explains why. It’s the first in a series on the gap between the rhetoric about Palantir and the work we actually do.

All of these Airbnb conversations remind me of the time a host said not to kill the spiders in every corner of his rental, but wanted us to wash dishes and strip the beds at checkout.🫠

beavers are so amazing. I think we take for granted that we live alongside little guys who chop down trees with their teeth and then build wooden river fortresses
Beavers stop chewing every few seconds to listen for cracking sounds in the tree so they don't get crushed
