Went back for second views of the Nutcracker - could not resist!
a bit more flighty and saw it briefly at the bowling green and in flight once.
Then finished with the beautifully tame 1st w male Desert Wheatear at Cley in glorious evening sunshine as the Pinks came in to roost

Norfolk's first twitchable Nutcracker since 1968 - here at Mundesley eating a Wasp! I'm sure he'd much prefer some peanuts (unsalted of course), so do try to take some along if you're visiting. Huge thanks to finder Neil Cooper.
Enjoyed the Nutcracker in sunshine today - The last one I saw was back in 1991 (when I was very young - notebook sketch from the 1991 bird attached :)

I've seen all 7 of the Melodious Warblers recorded in Norfolk apart from the 2 in 1957, with the views gradually getting better & better, until Wednesday's bird on Blakeney Point (the 3rd there) surprisingly gave really nice views. (More pics on cleybirds.com.)
Not a bad day on Blakeney Point - 1 Melodious Warbler (Thank you Andy S for the find and @JLowenWildlife for alerting me!) - Also Wryneck, 9 Pied Fly, 8 Whinchat, 8 Wheatear, 2 Redstart, 3 W warbler in sunshine and strong E winds 😊
Spent the day working from Cley NWT hides and cafe followed by swim in the sea and quick pint / lunch at the Dun Cow! Highlight was 3 new moths including my 13th species of Hawkmoth in Norfolk .. the still relatively scarce Striped Hawkmoth
Thank you Marcus @norfolkbirdtour for shout out when the Hawkmoth was found and for showing me the Pearly underwing !
Recently back from a week in the S France … As usual some good butterflies, day flying moths and birds like M spotted woodpeckers, B w kites, west Bonellis and melodious warblers. Coupled with good food, wine and peaceful countryside 😊 🇫🇷
Blurry phone shot of the beautiful, and dainty, 1st yr Ross’s Gull - Thornham yesterday- only my 2nd, following an adult many years ago! Nice to see so many birders enjoying the good views in the afternoon sunshine.
1 Ring Ouzel (at least) still eastern end of Cawston Heath .. along with Woodlarks, 4+ W Warblers, Stonechats ..
Spectacled eider about to be released soon .. early photos of its release now out .. apparently it did nothing dodgy in the past and is not suspected of any wrong doings ..
