BBC News - Scaffolding collapses on to road and traps man
bbc.com/news/articles/cm2xzy… @BBCLondonNews
Apparently a van was trapped beneath the collapsed scaffolding, but thankfully the driver escaped unharmed. Had it not been the Easter holidays, it could have been far worse. The street is completely impassable - police have blocked access on both sides for vehicles + pedestrians
Stoke Newington Church Street closed in both directions after 7.45am scaffolding collapse from the Stoke Newington Library major building works. It closed in March 2024 for up to two years to repair the roof and fabric of the Grade 2 listed building #StokeNewington #N16incident
(cont’d)… but also from Sumayya Si-Tayeb, the BSL signer. A great actor - and mover - herself, she added so much to the experience, enhancing the show for all, not just those with hearing loss. Catch it before the run ends on 26 Oct – you won’t regret it! @sumayya22
Saw the ‘relaxed’ matinee of Stoppard’s The Real Thing @OldVicTheatre today. It's a clever, witty, multilayered piece that keeps you on your toes - not just a play within a play but a play about TWO plays. Performances were outstanding, not just from the main ensemble (cont’d…)
Thank you to Mayor of Hackney @carowoodley and Deputy Mayor of London for Environment & Energy @metecoban92 for judging the cake competition at the Oldfield Road street party! Your support helped raise funds for @NLAHn16 and @StokeyCatsnDogs.

Thanks to the manager/team leader at @Pret Cavendish Square this afternoon, who kindly donated an unused/unclaimed @TooGoodToGo bag. Three hungry Londoners (on Oxford Street, at Oxford Circus, and at Highbury and Islington) were grateful and enjoyed the soups and macaroni cheese. – at Hackney, London
He showed how artmaking can be a powerful tool for recovery, communication, self-expression. Inspiring. And challenging… as we had to think about who gets to be ‘allowed’ to make and present artwork in institutions like the Barbican, and what constitutes a ‘proper artist’ 🎨🖼️🙌 – at Hackney, London
