Trump and his team act like they are mediating between two countries equally responsible for the war in Ukraine. That framework is morally and analytically wrong and does not advance peace. Treating Putin like he deserves something from his illegal, barbaric invasion only emboldens him to ask for more.

Ukrainians keep showing enormous courage in defending their country against Putin’s immoral and indeed evil efforts to conquer a neighbor. They have resisted now for four years and eight months and we should do all we can to help them.

So let met get that straight: paying a wealth tax is impossible (“billionaires have no liquidity”, “it would be taxing unrealized gains”, “their wealth is virtual”) but paying half a billion to influence elections is possible. Did I understand well?
Elon Musk has cemented his record as the largest individual political donor in modern American history. Musk poured $446 million of his own money into this year’s midterm elections, mostly aimed at preserving the Republican Party’s control of Congress. wapo.st/4igb5Kq

No, @elonmusk, the U.S. stopped funding Ukraine last year. In fact, U.S. companies make money on American weapons for which we Europeans pay. The more you meddle in our politics and the more you play politics with your products, the more you damage your brand.

A bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers has sent a letter to Elon Musk requesting an explanation as to why the provision of Starlink/Starshield services to the Ukrainian armed forces was restricted. In the letter, the lawmakers point out that while Musk has claimed that decisions regarding restrictions on Starlink connectivity were made by the Pentagon and the U.S. President, public statements suggest that the initiative may have originated with Musk himself. The lawmakers have requested responses to the following questions by October 31, 2026: ▪️ Have Musk or any representative of SpaceX ever discussed restricting Starlink access for the Ukrainian armed forces—within the territory of Russia or Ukraine—with President Putin, Trump, or other individuals or representatives acting on their behalf? ▪️ Have Musk, SpaceX, or any entities acting on their behalf restricted, deactivated, or throttled Starlink access for the Ukrainian armed forces this month? If so, why, and at whose direction? ▪️ Have Musk or any representative of SpaceX informed Ukrainian officials of any conditions or required actions necessary to fully or partially restore the Ukrainian armed forces' access to Starlink? ▪️ Did Trump or the White House actually request the restoration of Ukraine’s access to the Starlink and Starshield systems? Have these systems been fully restored? If so, when? If not, why? ▪️ Who—which individuals, agencies, or organizations—is currently making operational decisions regarding the restoration of full and unrestricted access for the Ukrainian armed forces to the Starlink and Starshield communication systems? The letter was signed by six Democratic members of the U.S. Congress and the Senate: Meeks, Welch, Schiff, Bennet, McGovern, and Crow.

This is basically Musk admitting he was behind the Starlink restrictions in Ukraine, after denying it.
Elon Musk: “Ukraine military violated Starlink terms of service and used it for offensive drone strikes to kill people. That loophole was closed last week” “Were Starlink to be turned off, the Ukrainian front line would collapse immediately.”

Almost all management of the $25 billion American gas project Polar Train LNG left the company following allegations of hidden funding and control by Russian Novatek. This was reported by the Financial Times. The former CEO of the company, Joel Riddle, spoke to the media about concerns regarding a potential violation of US sanctions. Former Polar LNG CEO Joel Riddle said he resigned after discovering that Novatek was secretly financing the project and steering its strategy. "It’s not only unlawful, but it’s not in the US interest to have Russian technology controlling the commercialization of Arctic gas," Riddle told the NYT. The deal was reportedly discussed during US-Russia talks, with potential sanctions relief for Novatek’s Arctic LNG 2 project on the table. Polar LNG denies wrongdoing.

“Russia invaded Ukraine, committed atrocities in the territories it occupied, and when it failed to force the government to fall or achieve its aims on the battlefield, began targeting civilians, seeking to terrorize the population into accepting Russian domination. The first Trump Administration shook off the Obama Administration’s reticence to assist and admirably sent both weapons and military trainers to help Ukraine.  After the full-scale invasion in 2022, the Biden Administration orchestrated a herculean international effort to assist Ukraine, which the Trump Administration has abandoned.”-@KoriSchake @AEI aei.org/foreign-and-defense-…

It took them a few days to get their story straight, but you knew it was always going to come back to blaming Ukraine.
First, Elon Musk throttles access to Starlink—with potentially lethal consequences for Ukrainians. Now, on his wretched platform X, he allows the blame for this to be shifted onto Ukraine. It appears to be an orchestrated disinformation campaign designed to turn perpetrators into victims and victims into the guilty party. It is hard to imagine anything more cynical.

“America First”? No. Putin First. The Trump family and Putin are making deals while Ukraine bleeds. Sanctioned company Novatek is secretly steering a $25 billion LNG project in Alaska. The CEO and other executives have resigned in disgust, unwilling to be party to the hidden Russian financing and violations of sanctions. Gentry Beach—a crony of Donald Trump Jr.—signed the agreement. Putin is discussing the entire matter with Witkoff and Kushner.
US energy company execs have resigned in disgust as the Trump family is caught secretly expediting the funneling of $25 billion from a sanctioned Russian energy giant in exchange for allowing Russians to obtain a natural gas project in Alaska. According to investigations by The New York Times and Financial Times, Russia's Novatek allegedly concealed its financial involvement in the American project through a UAE-linked intermediary. Gentry Beach, a longtime Trump ally and close friend of Donald Trump Jr., signed an agreement with Novatek to pursue natural gas development in Alaska. Reuters documented the arrangement in February. Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin discussed this cooperation on the Alaska energy project with Trump's representatives, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, during negotiations involving Russia and Ukraine. The controversy deepened when Polar Train LNG's CEO, Joel Riddle, raised concerns about concealed Russian financing and possible sanctions violations. He departed in September, followed by other senior executives. The Financial Times also described discussions about a potential arrangement under which Novatek would provide technology for the Alaska project in exchange for sanctions relief benefiting its Arctic LNG 2 development in Siberia. According to The New York Times, Riddle and two other departing executives warned the Trump administration about the Russian financing and urged officials to investigate. The White House maintains that the project was mentioned only briefly and that no detailed discussions took place. There is no established evidence that Kushner or Witkoff knew about the allegedly concealed financing. Polar Train LNG denies wrongdoing. The central question is how a sanctioned Russian energy company became involved in a major American energy venture while Putin was discussing potential economic cooperation with Trump's representatives and a longtime Trump family associate was pursuing a separate agreement with the same Russian company. Selling Alaska to the Russians or selling Ukraine to the Russians - to the Trump family it's all the same. ft.com/content/e9cfbfbb-e65a…
