I believe @PresMcCullough. This epic struggle taking place in @FSUFootball may well define the future of college athletics. A book exists about the existential conflicts embedded in Seminoles football since the infamous 2023 NCAA "snub." Betrayal, disloyalty, courage, wasted talent, sacrifice, Herculean adaptation, interpersonal conflict, unfathomable personal and professional challenges--the task for the writer will be finding the best through-line and focus. I wish I had the time to write it, but I am sure someone else will.

A fair amount of truth in this from @klhicks912 . The biggest struggle for many authors is overcoming g the vulnerability and fear that come with simply putting words down on the page. When we run workshops on writers block, the first exercise simple—write, even if it’s bad.

True. That is, if you want to sell books.
One of the biggest portions of an author’s job, whether they know it or not, is marketing. The act of building awareness for your work. An author’s typical marketing strategy involves: - Spending hours to create engaging social media posts - Learning how to create and then run advertising campaigns - Attending in-person and online events This is one of the toughest parts of the job, besides editing. So how do we decide when to keep going, when to change, or when to quit our marketing strategy? Find out here: writepublishgrow.substack.co…

Good advice for writers...
Nobody warns you that writing can make you question yourself. You can be excited about your story on Monday and convinced it’s terrible by Friday. One good piece of feedback can make you feel unstoppable. One harsh comment can make you question 30,000 words. The hard part is learning when to listen, when to revise, and when to simply keep going. What’s one thing about writing that has made you doubt yourself the most?

This column @TDOnline Pretty much sums up where I am on college football right now. I don't know what the answer is, but NIL and the transfer portal are making D-1 football programs less sustainable in higher education. tallahassee.com/story/opinio…

Excellent article on the unheralded role volunteer fire departments and firefighters play in our communities. I grew up and lived most of my life in a town with a volunteer fire department, and it provided important glue to our community. tallahassee.com/story/opinio…

As luck would have it, a tree fell on the power lines at the Marzuq temple. For Tallahassee people: we have moved to the IHOP down the street into a private room.

Definitely going against the headline narrative but this is far more likely than the jobs apocalypse.
"The jobs apocalypse is postponed. An AI jobs boom is here" 😲 economist.com/finance-and-ec… "Add it all up, and The Economist estimates that AI has so far created around 1m new jobs in America."

Among other things I will discuss this Thursday @TalWriters will be how a budget helps discipline our creative, author minds for the practical realities running our book writing enterprise. We don’t talk enough about these parts of publishing and marketing our books, but every author has to do it, even the wildly successful ones, twaonline.org

Interesting fact: Boston has more @dunkindonuts (60) than Starbucks coffee shops (56). Evidence that coffee saved the donut shop.
