Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbs has been elected governor of Arizona, defeating Republican Kari Lake, a former TV news anchor who backed Donald Trump’s election lies. Hobbs will succeed Republican Gov. Doug Ducey, who was term-limited. apnews.com/article/2022-midt…

This is my story like you’ve never seen before.
I’m excited to share the official trailer for "Gabby Giffords Won't Back Down” premiering in theaters July 15th. Can’t wait for everybody to see this film from @BetsyWest and @FilmmakerJulie! #GabbyMovie

Please listen to @RepLucyMcBath as she speaks for so many women who have had miscarriages and stillbirths—tragic losses the right wing seeks to criminalize.
Replying to @atrupar
Rep. Lucy McBath: "After which failed pregnancy should I have been imprisoned? ... would you have put me behind bars after my stillbirth, after I was forced to carry a dead fetus for weeks, after asking God if I was ever going to be able to raise a child?"
Just got a box of baby formula in the mail - shocking to get it with the formula shortage that’s going on. Before I try to figure out where they purchased my data from, I need to get the formula to those that need it. Where can I donate it tomorrow in the #DMV?

None of us should accept a future in which our daughters and granddaughters have fewer rights than we did.

To celebrate mothers, we should make sure mothers and their children have health care.
To celebrate mothers, we should offer paid parental leave and paid sick leave.
To celebrate mothers, we should make quality child care affordable for everyone.
I had this exact same thought. 1) great government experience - it worked, was fast, easy to understand 2) adding in the “price” was a comms/marketing job well done. These aren’t free to make, but free for us to get. Good job everyone in the admin and usps!
This took about 20 seconds. And kudos to whomever had the idea to include the $0.00 price instead of just not displaying it at all. Makes it feel like you're getting a deal. covidtests.gov/

With the King family marching today, we remember that the fight for voting rights takes perseverance. As Dr. King said, “There are no broad highways to lead us easily and inevitably to quick solutions. We must keep going.” May we honor his memory through action forged in faith.

It doesn’t matter how much you love your kids, how much you love your job. It is hard to even EXIST right now if you are a parent of a kid under 5.
(And I say that as someone w a great, flexible employer; real support; an equal partner; many privileges). nytimes.com/2022/01/14/us/co…

I do not undersatnd how policymakers can read this, or anything else that has been written on this topic in the last few days, and not try to help. Test to stay for child care? Where is the CDC?

Not gonna lie, never been so excited to live in Boston and send tweet about 💩. Here’s hoping cases come down.

This this this this this. This is us, and so many others. Every day feels like a decision between a bad choice, another bad choice, an even a worse choice and my last remaining shreds of sanity.
Those who are vaccinated might be accepting the risk of COVID and moving on. Those of us with little kids cannot. slate.trib.al/E0eUjl4
This was me! To the T! Except someone told me it was purple Gatorade. I stopped short of making the decision between the non-FDA meds or the FDA-approved but causes depression meds. My sanity is worth everything, my baby’s health is worth even more and formula let us do both.
“ ‘Breastfeeding is great because it’s free’ is a statement that is true only if you believe women’s time and bodies are worth nothing.” <— Hello! I am back from maternity leave! washingtonpost.com/lifestyle…

This morning's newsletter from @DLeonhardt is depressing but spot on.
We have consistently put children and young people last. And it shows.

This is a must read for anyone pregnant or thinking of getting pregnant. My OB in NYC didn’t position this as a screen before a diagnostic (if needed) or give info - let alone context - on high rate of false positives for micro-deletions.
Prenatal tests promise to detect rare genetic diseases in babies by scanning DNA.
Labs market them as "reliable." They tell women to have "total confidence" in results.
It turns out, the grave predictions made by those tests are usually wrong. (1/5)

We opened up the TV can of worms this year (ya know, pandemic) and can say we all love Daniel Tiger. I’m a-ok with Daniel parenting my kid! i.e. he wore gloves this week because Daniel did! @warshaw_
