The daily scene on our Green! Everyone knows the reasons humans NEED space like this in built up areas. It’s unfathomable that @ManCityCouncil are ploughing ahead with plans to build over it. Who at the Council is going to stand up an be counted on this?

New Islington Green: Many residents have expressed anger and frustration to me over the years at Labour's decision to sell off our green space.

We 💚 our Green
40 trees and 150,000 sq ft of grass providing space that's crucial to the wellbeing of thousands of residents.
@ManCityCouncil & @GeneralProjects are going to build on it. Email them; [email protected] to request updates on their plans.

True. Lots of social, not much distancing. But here in #NewIslington and #Ancoats in #Manchester this time will (also) be remembered as the Big Picnic of 2020, before the council turned it into an office park @MayorofGM @SirRichardLeese @MENnewsdesk @GeneralProjects @saveNIgreen
Fascinating New Islington twitter exhibition @Len_Grant. The shot below is the future site of our Green and the neighbourhood we love. Not without its loss (the Dispensary for one), but a community in the making. Let's hope @ManCityCouncil remember we need space to breath too!

Well that’s it folks, not one word from a Labour councillor 🤐
4000+ petition signatures
300+ consultation responses
99% resident opposition
..and yet those elected to represent us have nothing to say on plans to reduce the green space essential to our wellbeing. Such a shame.

Nice view over the Green of Vulcan from Chips #saveNIgreen
Thanks @LucyMPowell. We agree. CEO of chosen developer @GeneralProjects speaks positively on the @Propertyshe podcast: mishcon.com/news/podcasts/ja…. Much talk of social responsibility and sustainability, but is a sustainable community possible if MCC sells off all our green space?
Great to see people out using their Green the other day. Enjoy it whilst you can folks, it won’t be here for long! City centre residents will soon be socially distant by design. Thanks @ManCityCouncil 😢 #saveNIgreen
This is the initial consultation survey from the developer @GeneralProjects who will be building on New Islington Green. Please tweet them and @ManCityCouncil and send a quick email to [email protected] with your thoughts #saveNIgreen

We genuinely can’t tell if you’re being serious or not. “We all need to seriously think about our lifestyles”??? That’s a joke right? ‘Our lifestyles’ include walking our dogs, playing with our kids and socialising on our local green space; the space you intend to concrete over!

We’ve hit 3,000 signatures. @treesnotcars have 11,500+ to show how unpopular @ManCityCouncil’s plans are.
Exactly how many signatures, mass opposition and negative feedback would the Council have to receive before they actually listened to the citizens they say they represent?
Even google recognises our much-used area of local green space as "New Islington Park". I wonder why @ManCityCouncil refuse to do the same? They certainly don't value it at much. £2.4m, in fact is the agreed sale price to turn it into offices. #saveNIgreen 1/
That’s the same price the penthouse in the new Oxygen building is being sold for. Compared to 4.5 acres of city centre land! /2
It’s also 14% of the price per acre @ManCityCouncil paid for Central Retail Park at £37m. Which they now say they have to build a car park on to generate much needed revenue. Who's doing these bad deals on behalf of the Council, Donald Trump? You couldn’t make it up!
