🇪🇺🤝🇨🇦 «The speech delivered today by Prime Minister Mark #Carney was historic, courageous and profoundly European in spirit. It set out a vision of the world that Europe largely shares and confirmed that #Canada is more than a strategic partner: it is part of our wider democratic and political family. At a time when the international order is being reshaped by power politics, economic coercion and growing authoritarianism, Carney has shown the ambition and strategic clarity that this moment demands. Europe should respond with equal ambition. The European Democratic Party calls for the EU–Canada Summit in Montréal on 29–30 October to turn this shared ambition into a concrete political project. Canada belongs with Europe, and Europe belongs with Canada. Our relationship is rooted not only in common interests, but in history, deep human ties and the values that unite us: freedom, democracy, the rule of law and respect for human dignity. The time has come to give political form to this natural alliance.
