From his first days in the White House, Trump was asking "Where's my Roy Cohn?" Trump found him in the form of Stephen Miller, a street brawler whose pugilistic instinct is remarkably Cohn-like. Here's my '19 profile of the new White House chief of staff: momentmag.com/its-stephen-mi…

Ken Paxton's run for AG was one of my first assignments when I moved to Texas in 2014.
Over the years, he became a beat unto his own. I broke stories about bribery investigations and "other women." I got a shout out at his impeachment trial.
Last night, I was there as he became the face of the worst Republican wipeout in modern Texas history. Here's my look back.

Graham and many others thought the Republicans' reckoning for giving themselves over to Trump would come in Nov 2016, but with the Comey letter et al, it didn't.
It could have come in 2024, but the Dems stuck with Biden too long.
It finally came tonight. 10 years.

Sorry to hear about the death of Marty Erlichman, who has died at age 97 in LA. Best known as manager of Barbra Streisand for most of her career, Marty was one of the most honorable and engaging people I met during my years as pop critic of the Los Angeles Times. A classic.

This is beautifully and powerfully said about Michiganders and Americans at large.
I’m not from Michigan, but my son went to the University of Michigan and I spent quite a bit of time visiting him there. I found the people of Michigan to be exactly like El-Sayed said: hard-working, open minded, and willing to have a conversation—good-hearted people.
He’s right, we can do way more together than we can do alone. So as we head into the final days, wherever you live, think about the people talking about what we can do together. We may be a lonely, disconnected country, but let’s put that to bed and start doing things together the way we used to—there’s so much more power in that.
