If you were trying to satirise the fact self righteous bourgois idiots have an infantile fixation on Harry Potter and endless entitlement you would basically film this as a sketch. It’s got everything, the smug grin, the headscarf the speaking down to front line staff…..
Jolyon's Good Law Project now harassing the Mayor's office because the Oxford Street lights will be Harry Potter themed and therefore trans-exclusionary.

Around 1500, Hieronymus Bosch painted sheet music on a sinner's bare butt in hell. 500 years later, someone transcribed and performed it. Now you can hear the original butt song from hell.

This one's spectacular. In the 1960s, London's Mews were still being used to keep horses. This clip spoils us with a lovely glimpse of the people, pubs, and lifestyle among the cobbled backstreets that have since become expensive housing. They certainly had more personality then than nowadays. @Britains___Pubs

An utterly grotesque comparison. Deranged, in fact.
If you ever sought out the novels of Sally Rooney in bookshops – when that was still possible – you’d know they sit in the fiction stacks adjacent to the novels of another SR whose books have been withdrawn in dastardly political circumstances. Until last week, “Rooney” and “Rushdie” had little in common beyond being shelfmates; now they have more than just a physical proximity. @tanjil_rashid_: This is censorship by other means newstatesman.com/comment/202…

🇺🇦🤝🇻🇳 Ukraine extends its sincere gratitude to the Government and people of Vietnam for providing a new package of valuable humanitarian assistance to Ukraine totalling 500,000 dollars @MOFAVietNam. We deeply appreciate this meaningful gesture of goodwill, compassion and solidarity with the Ukrainian people during these challenging times. Particularly timely ahead of winter. This move reflects the longstanding friendship, mutual respect, and understanding between our two nations. We highly value Vietnam’s contribution to humanitarian efforts aimed at assisting those in need and alleviating human suffering. We are confident that this support will further strengthen the traditionally friendly relations between Ukraine and Vietnam and contribute to deepening bilateral cooperation for the benefit of our peoples.

'Let’s take the three subjects Ms Gilruth mentioned in turn: firstly, “a Scotland in which women are silenced”. The deputy first minister provided no examples, but let me. Twice, I went to attempts by a group of women to screen a documentary about women’s rights, Adult Human Female. The first time, it couldn’t go ahead because of a large group of protesters and the second time, it went ahead but only thanks to heavy security. I spoke to both sides and the women trying to screen the film couldn’t have been less right-wing if they’d tried, and the protesters who were trying to silence them were absolutely of the Left, not the Right.' heraldscotland.com/politics/…

Once again proving himself one of the worst people in the world. An American disgrace; a global tragedy.
Trump: "Russia, frankly, has been fine on Ukraine. They haven't been doing much."

Trump's remarks were made the same day Russia conducted a drone strike killing six civilians including children in a Kharkiv region park, plus missile and energy infrastructure attacks leaving hundreds of thousands without power. kyivindependent.com/what-russias-d… kyivindependent.com/russian-drone-… kyivindependent.com/russia-strikes…

Trump and Musk are monsters.
Russians have just murdered a baby and two women that were walking in a public park in Kharkiv. This is the face of genocide in the 21st century. Now, under U.S. protection, Russia is inflicting massacres at the highest level of the war, all across Ukraine.

He is one of the most contemptible men in public life, in a league with Jeffrey Donaldson. Imagine the courage it takes for a woman to report sexual violence, knowing how often women are disbelieved, scrutinised and retraumatised, only to watch a man accused of such crimes publicly cast himself as the victim, sermonising about sin, grace and dignity while his trial is under way. I know this from working in Women’s Aid and Rape Crisis. This is precisely why so many women never report rape or sexual assault. They have seen how easily men can deny, deflect and demand sympathy, while the women who come forward are left to bear the cost. I have nothing but contempt for men like Russell Brand, who seem to have no shame about turning their own public disgrace into another opportunity to demand an audience’s sympathy. Ugh.

Not even Black Mirror could predict this level of dystopia. A man found out his job interviewer was AI, so he let his own AI take over and walked away, leaving both AIs stuck in an endless goodbye loop.

Periodic reminder that one of Britain's great artists, David Inshaw, is still working even if more or less cancelled by the @Tate (for decades: his marvellous The Badminton Game was regularly voted the favourite painting of visitors so they moved it to a poky corridor over 40 years ago then decided not to even display it; his love of the landscape & culture of Angleterre profonde - even unto [clutch pearls] the occasional St George's Flag, of @RoyalAirForce jets, and ancient mysterious hills obviously got his ticket marked at an early age by the childish apparatchiks in charge of these things these days. But the fire burns on (his topic in recent years at @RedfernGallery &c.). Bless him!

I will never forget hearing from some of the first responders who came to speak in Parliament. Chilling reports of the unbelievable evil carried out, especially to women's bodies, and the compassionate care taken by those tasked with identifying victims. MPs always have mutiple conflicting committments, but my friend @KemiBadenoch and I stayed for the whole event. Incredibly difficult but necessary. #7October.
7 October. Thinking of aĺl the victims tortured & murdered three years ago. The extreme violence towards women confirmed the misogyny at the heart of Islamist terror. Solidarity with British Jews on this terrible anniversary.

A Storm (1932) arrives during a challenging year for Magritte. Galerie Le Centaure had closed, he was back in Brussels doing advertising with his brother Paul, and between 1930 and 1932 he had no exhibitions and sold no work. The title reads as autobiography. #artbots #magritte
