Victor Frankensteins are how progress happens, not centralized government-funded programs where if you fail, you'll never get an R01 grant again. Intellectual freedom is why the private sector is 70% of basic research and 100% of applied. Just don't be a creepy loner about it.

Americans who feel poor today have no concept of the term. American science and technology created the first time in the history of the world that poor people could afford to be fat.
How many Americans actually just straight-up starve to death? In the latest data, from 2024, there were 22 cases. And not even one of them was about poverty making it unaffordable to obtain food.

You wrote 'quality' and that does not apply to Wikipedia. Anyone who watched the @science2_0 entry get hijacked by activists at a school and was told nothing could be done because people actually involved in creating it were disqualified, knows it's an intellectual carcinogen.
Wikipedia, which went online in January, 2001, is now the greatest compendium of human knowledge ever assembled. Yet in the last four years, it has lost 25 per cent of its traffic—more than a billion monthly visitors. Since the site recruits its editors from its audience, this dip also threatens its growth and quality. Many users have been intercepted by A.I. “It’s a cruelly ironic fate,” Julian Lucas writes. Wikipedia was the single most important training corpus in the history of artificial intelligence. Now artificial intelligence is threatening its survival. The Evolution Of Halloween In the 1700s and early 1800s is when Halloween really arrived in America. The Puritan culture of those religiously disenfranchised by Europe had given way to a large influx of Scots looking for land and prosperity after the Acts of Union with England.

Gen X said the same thing 45 years ago when it was revealed Congress was not investing social security payments, but spending them and adding debt. However, the Biden administration printing $8 trillion should not be the reason to penalize retirees. They didn't vote for him.
34% of Gen Z believe Social Security will even exist when they retire, per Cato Institute.

Sir, we existed 20 years ago. It is a registered trademark.
Mr. Musk has practically invented science 2.0 for our generation. If he wants to control one state election, that seems like a fair trade. Honestly, I think he’s earned three.

The American poor are nowhere close to poor today. In the 1980s, air conditioning was a hallmark of privilege. Now every poor person has a flat screen, a phone, and streaming apps. Air conditioning is not novel.
I will never understand why the shopping mall fell out of favor after the 1980s. A place to go with plenty to do, that doesn't cost anything. Air conditioned and comfortable. Why did the shopping mall die off?

Since you are going right to sexism, here's demographic reality: men didn't invent chronic lyme disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, and fibromyalgia, and then doctor hop until they got someone to agree with their self-diagnosis.
On average men were diagnosed in 3 months. Women in 2 years. Women's auto-immune diseases aren't trickier. But doctors afford women less epistemological authority. Women are simply considered less trustworthy, even, especially, about themselves. theguardian.com/society/2026…

It's hard to take the government seriously when your administration and the Biden one rightly noted that smoking is bad for health but both claim it is not bad for health when 'natives' smoke because it is some tribal custom.
When I became HHS Secretary, I vowed to be the best Secretary in history for Indian Country. Last month, I met with Tribal leaders at my Secretary’s Tribal Advisory Committee meeting to discuss the progress we’ve made, confront the challenges that remain, and set priorities for the work ahead. We are listening to Tribal leaders, acting on their priorities, and delivering on our commitment to strengthen Tribal health and Make Indian Country Healthy Again.
