I remember reading about how the Soviets used to throw Ukrainian nationalists in mental asylums and thinking "wow, that is so draconian."
After seeing what Ukrainian nationalism is all about, I realize the Soviets had a point.

There is no baseline of American childhood anymore. There is no longer an assumption that you had two loving parents. There is no youth culture anymore, because there is no foundation for it in a stable family. The new generations are fragmented, contradictory, and inconsistent for this reason, the loss of a common experience.
