HyoRiSoo was brought up during the show, with the hosts saying they've been stealing the spotlight lately. Tiffany joked that it almost feels like TaeTiSeo doesn't even exist anymore. She added that Taeyeon and Seohyun haven't reacted at all... and that's what worries her most 😂

📰 #서현 | Seohyun successfully concludes classical collaboration challenge and donates proceeds to charity....a touching melody created by sincerity "On the evening of the 13th, Seohyun appeared on stage as an amateur violin soloist and special guest at the 'Sol Philharmonic Orchestra 8th Regular Concert' held at Lotte Concert Hall in Songpa, Seoul. She successfully finished the performance to warm applause from the audience that filled the roughly 2,000-seat hall. During the preparation period, Seohyun showed a sincere and serious attitude toward the stage, carrying out high-intensity practice sessions lasting 8 to 10 hours every day. In particular the piece she selected to perform, Vittorio Monti’s “Csárdás,” is a difficult work characterized by dazzling technique and sudden tempo changes, making it a very bold challenge for an amateur. However Seohyun completed the piece with her characteristic immersion and passion, personally proving that this performance was not merely a one time event but a pure challenge toward music. The encore piece that brought the performance to its close was Girls’ Generation’s debut song 'Into the New World'. As the familiar melody was played on the violin in harmony with the orchestra’s arrangement, the audience was moved and the concert hall was soon filled with a standing ovation. The meaning of this performance did not remain only in the music on stage. Seohyun not only took part in the concert in the form of a talent donation without receiving a separate soloist fee, and also joined in the decision to donate the concert’s proceeds to support socially vulnerable groups such as orchestras for people with disabilities, showing a model example of positive influence. Right after the performance, Seohyun shared her thoughts through her agency, saying, 'My skills may still be lacking, but it was a time I sincerely enjoyed preparing with all my heart. I truly hope my performance could be a small courage for someone to begin something new, and a warm comfort to those with tired hearts', conveying a humble yet warm message."'

📰 #서현 | Seohyun Interview by The Korea Herald, on her upcoming violin concert performance. This is BEAUTIFULLY written. “Each fingertip had been clearly carved in and hardened into calluses. It’s been five months since she picked up the violin again. ‘Now my fingertips don’t hurt anymore.’ With a clear and gentle smile, the finger brace on Seohyun’s left index finger quietly made its presence known. Until her delicate fingertips became tough, she endured countless days of wounds and stinging pain. Now she’s in the middle of a ‘joyful battle’ with arthritis and tendinitis. These days are an ‘off-season’ for her, free from filming schedules and allowing her to devote herself entirely to practice. Each and every day, she’s locked in a fierce war with the violin. ‘Up until March there’s just physically not enough time. If I could, I’d practice 50 hours a day but a day only has 24 hours, which feels so cruel.’ Singer and actress Seohyun is set to take on a collaborative performance of Monti’s masterpiece ‘Csárdás’ on March 13 at Seoul’s Lotte Concert Hall with amateur orchestra Sol Philharmonic. News that a five-month-old ‘baeolinist’ (her portmanteau of 'violin' and 'baby', meaning a violin beginner) would stand on the stage of Korea’s leading classical music venue quickly stirred the industry. Thanks to Seohyun's name value, the performance has become a hot topic in the classical music world. Meeting Seohyun last weekend at her agency Kkum Entertainment’s office, she said, ‘It’s like people who enjoy music and playing instruments as a hobby banding together to throw our own little party.’ Seohyun’s speaking voice sounds like 'Moderato con Anima', meaning moderately pace, but full of life. It has neither the flashiness of K-pop nor the unpredictability of jazz. Like a finely tuned instrument, it’s steady and trustworthy, while moving forward with sparkling vitality at a precise tempo, naturally marked in commas and periods. Like Mozart’s 'Piano Concerto No. 21 in C Major', her voice achieves a balance between crystalline clarity and intense, fundamental inner discipline. Unrushed and unexaggerated, Seohyun recalled the day she reunited with the violin as her eyes filled with musical notes. Though she has been learning the violin again for only five months, music has always been part of Seohyun’s life. Influenced by her mother, who majored in jazz piano and flute and headed a piano academy, she studied the violin for years as a child. She played the piano for a full ten years and advanced all way to 'Czerny No. 50', well beyond the level of a casual hobby. She also entered numerous musical competitions when she was young. Seohyun reflected, ‘I think my mother was trying to find the instrument that suited me best.’ The turning point that led her to breaking a long hiatus and picking up her instrument again came after she was injured while filming last year’s drama ‘The First Night With the Duke’. She reflected, ‘I had a serious injury, but I couldn’t step away from the drama. I needed something that would help me get through a very extruciating period. As I went through rehabilitation for my body and also sought mental recovery, I returned to classical music, something I always carried close in my heart.’ Around that time she encountered pianist Lim Yunchan for the first, who established himself as a sensation in the classical music world. She said, ‘Last year, I happened to watch the video of Rachmaninoff’s 'Piano Concerto No. 3' that he performed at the 2022 Van Cliburn Competition. Since it had been an unfulfilled dream of mine, I was so shocked by the sight of Lim Yunchan performing at what I saw as a divine level, that I watched the video on repeat again and again’. She vividly conveyed the thrill she felt at the time. ‘I felt as though only that person and the piano existed on the stage. I could feel he was in a state of being 100% immersed in the music, without any calculation or anxiety. I’m also someone who acts so I have to immerse myself, but to be perfectly immersed in every single moment like that felt like the realm of the Divine. It was so astonishing, as if a performance that should be played by an eighty-something master was being performed so beautifully and convincingly by a young man’ The intense experience of immersion became both a healing remedy that lifted Seohyun when she was weak on set, and a mirror that made her reflect on herself. In truth, ever since her Girls’ Generation days Seohyun has been an icon of diligence and self-reflection, someone who constantly honed herself. She said, ‘Watching artists who present new interpretations through bone-grinding effort made me reflect on whether there were moments when I’d grown complacent or lazy in my life (smile). That healthy inspiration seems to have awakened a passion that’s been sleeping inside me.’ It was five months ago that relearning the piano naturally led to a longing for the violin. Seohyun said, ‘People are saying that I learned it as a child, but after a 20-year break it’s the same as having to start all over again from the beginning’. She refamiliarized herself with piano and violin step by step, entirely from the basics. Her instructors are pianist Park Jonghwa and violinist Kim Hyunjung. Though the two instruments are vastly different, Seohyun discovered the ‘laws of music’ shared by both. ‘Whether you’re playing the piano or the violin, the most important things are breathing and emotion. When I first picked up the violin again, I was so bad that all I could do was laugh helplessly.’ Despite wanting to be good, the harsh reality made her feel ‘so lame’. Starting from the beginning with bowing practice, she wrestled with the violin for 10 hours a day, every day. True to her all-or-nothing personality, once she commits to something, she goes all the way. Naturally the process is anything but easy. ‘After holding the violin for such long hours, my body started sending signals. About seven hours is manageable, but once you go past ten it’s definitely tough. Neck and shoulder pain are a given. The reason I quit the violin as a child was also because of intense pain. Back then, my posture became misaligned, and I suffered from neck pain for 20 years. This time, by doing Pilates alongside my injury rehabilitation, I’ve been able to get through it much better.’ Though it is a succession of painful battles, Seohyun laughs and says, ‘I’m actually just groaning and struggling, so it’s silly to talk as if I’m having some profound agony. Still this whole process of taking on the challenge makes me so happy. It’s such a sensitive instrument that I practice by coaxing it like a baby’. She is a maximum-passion ‘baby violinist’ who believes that ‘if it’s easy, it’s not fun.’ These hours, built up persistently and diligently, are slowly leading Seohyun closer to ‘Csárdás’. The upcoming performance is neither a presentation for a world-class artist virtuoso nor a surprise headline appearance by a classical star on a professional platform. It is simply a ‘celebration space’ created by amateurs who love music. Sol Philharmonic is an orchestra made up of ordinary people who play as a hobby. This collaboration came about at the recommendation of her instructor Kim Hyunjung. ‘It’s like a party where people who love music gather together. No one is a music major, and everyone has their own day job, but these people come together because they love music. The pressure is immense, but I started with the mindset of “so what if I’m not good, what matters is enjoying it”. I thought, let’s just jump in. If I get through this challenge, other things I do after will feel easier too. For me this is the challenge of a lifetime, which is why I’m groaning like this. (Laughs)’ In fact, ‘Csárdás’ had been Seohyun’s ‘ultimate goal piece’ as she rediscovered the violin. It is a notoriously difficult piece, known for its dazzling virtuosity. Performing it just seven months after picking up the instrument again might seem like rapid progress, but she waves that idea away. ‘I can play it, but I don’t think it’ll reach the quality I want. I just hope for a performance that brings out the dynamic emotions of this piece, which comprise sorrow, loneliness, despair, joy, ecstasy, and love. The opportunity is here, and if I don’t try to do it now I never will. It won’t be perfect, but I want to present the best ‘Csárdás’ that I can play on that day. Maybe I’ll be able to play it better in ten years. For now please think of it as ‘baby Csárdás.’ (Laughs) Welcoming the new year as a ‘baby violinist’, Seohyun calls this period of her life CHAPTER THREE. She always disciplined herself with neatness and diligence, pouring her teenage years entirely into Girls’ Generation, then spending her twenties walking the dual paths of K-pop star and actress. Now in her thirties, she finds herself facing the present with greater emotional ease and uncovering the jewels within herself. ‘When I debuted at a young age with Girls’ Generation and I was in a position where everything I did was evaluated, I had a strong compulsion to protect myself. I made a strict framework for myself. In my twenties, I was like a racehorse running straight ahead. But when I reached my thirties, my perspective opened up a bit. I’m a workaholic, so I started thinking about if I’m a happy person outside of work and tried to balance the ON and OFF of my life.’ This violin challeng is the key to opening her CHAPTER THREE. Beyond the Seohyun who stood under dazzling lights, it is the process of filling herself with diverse experiences and inhabiting ‘human being Seo Juhyun’. Now that her thirties are being filled with healthy vitality, Seohyun hopes that her journey can become a small spark for someone. ‘If someone else sees “Seohyun too is pushing herself head first” and thinks about taking on a forgotten dream, that alone would make this a meaningful challenge.’ Seohyun said, ‘I might fail and make mistakes, but the process itself is thrill and healing for me.’ Her hope is that just as she was moved by Lim Yunchan’s music, more people can take one step closer to the world of classical music. In fact Seohyun is an enthusiastic fan who attends various classical performances. Recently, she attended a recital by Christian Zimerman and even joined the intense ticketing (‘blood-splattering ticketing’) to reserve tickets for Lim Yunchan’s concert. She often fails at ticketing, so she has membership at the Arts Center, Lotte Concert Hall, or whever Lim Yunchan offers priority ticket booking. Her favorite violinist is Yang In-mo. She listened to the complete performance of Telemann’s unaccompanied violin fantasias last year. ‘It was such a shocking feeling’. ‘After listening to pianist Lim Yunchan perform, my life changed. Watching him play the same piece differently every time gives me a sense of freedom. Even through my imperfect playing, if someone simply feels that classical music is enjoyable I'll be filled with happiness. There are times I become lazy or struggle with things I can’t handle, but each time classical music comforted and healed me, and lead me forward to happiness. I want to share that feeling.’” (news.zum.com/articles/103548…)

📰 #서현 | Seohyun profile and interview by The Korea Economic Daily, (Part 2): "Music has also been a source of inspiration in her main career. 'Singers and actors convey emotions, right? Aspects such as projection and breathwork, or how to utilize facial expressions are universal elements of performance art. Playing the violin actually helps with both singing and acting. The piano was particularly helpful for acting. In the past, I focused on performing exactly as marked in the score. Pianissimo (very soft), forte (loud), dolce (sweetly). Now I try to imagine what emotions I feel through each line and what I want to convey. Any performance without experiencing countless personal struggles and without understanding the music isn’t really a personal interpretation.'” (v.daum.net/v/202601211252448…)
