Emma Radacanu's coach thinks doing horse riding, swimming, tap dancing, basketball, skiing, golf and go-karting as a kid - and only specialising in tennis later - helped her. Here's why. (With a massive nod to the brilliant @DavidEpstein)

It doesn't matter how beautiful your theory is, it doesn't matter how smart you are. If it doesn't agree with experiment, it's wrong. In that simple statement is the key to science.

Great day out yesterday joining with @upthebont for swim, bike, run in the #BreconBeacons. Two rides went out, one shorter, one longer so all abilities welcomed. Brick run, then river swim in the #Usk to finish. New friends made - we loved it! #Triathlon @WelshTriathlon

A cultural mindset has developed over many years to encourage these contradictions. I've never met a 'top tier' athlete who needed to be motivated by a UK Sport target or range. But I've met a few administrators & coaches who have behaved atrociously in fear of not meeting them.
Level 2 certificate in the post today 🥳🏊♀️🚴♂️🏃♂️. Many thanks to @kyliemtri, @coachtrimonkey, @MikeJones49, & @WelshTriathlon. First-class course and inspirational tutors. Fantastic support from @Brecontri 😀👍

The (very badly) dubbed children’s series about a Yugoslavian horse farm, was named one the greatest theme tunes in tv history. The (UK) theme, written by Michael Carr & Ben Nisbet was titled "White Horses", & credited to "Jacky" (Jackie Lee). ❤️

I just don't understand why athletes aren't taking the opportunity to credit the shoes. I mean this is the one time they can actually pass credible praise to their sponsor's contribution to the performance...that is unless their sponsor doesn't want the rules changing again...
