“When life itself seems lunatic, who knows where madness lies? Perhaps to be too practical is madness. To surrender dreams — this may be madness. Too much sanity may be madness — and maddest of all: to see life as it is, and not as it should be!” -Miguel de Cervantes

At this point, pre-auth should probably be reserved for hospital based imaging only.

BREAKING: Microsoft, $MSFT, is offering buyouts to 60,000 workers as part of the company’s efforts to cut costs amid AI adoption, per Bloomberg. Personnel on select teams in the US, Canada, India, and the UK at a vice president level and below will be eligible. This reflects ~27% of Microsoft's total workforce.

Stacking DWI is about the stupidest thing we do in Radiology. It’s like going to the smorgasbord and hiding the chocolate long johns under the shrimp scampi that has been sitting under the heat lamp for 4 hours.

The cracks have been visible since at least 2011, well before the Deans and Presidents decided to swing their campuses hard left.
Dinner with a friend who’s a dean at liberal arts college in New England. “We’re pretty fucked. Enrollment is down, everyone thinks their fringe department is too valuable to cut, and leadership doesn’t have the balls to right the ship.”

Not a broken HVAC motor, but a lesson in E&M, materials, and circuits for the kids. @rossiadam

In the last century a kid applying to university would select their best option. Today, a kid applying to university stands by while they self-immolate and then chooses the last standing.

🩸 PATHFINDER 2 is now published in Nature Medicine. In >35,000 adults ≥50 years old, a blood-based multi-cancer early detection (MCED) test showed: • Specificity: 99.64% • PPV: 60.3% • Cancer detection rate: 0.54% • Sensitivity: 39.3% across all cancers • Sensitivity: 69.8% for 12 cancers responsible for ~⅔ of U.S. cancer deaths • Cancer signal origin accuracy: 91.3% • 53% of newly detected cancers were stage I–II Adding MCED to standard screening detected 6.5× more cancers. The critical question remains: Will earlier detection translate into lower cancer mortality? That will require randomized trials and longer follow-up. 📄 doi.org/10.1038/s41591-026-0… @NatureMedicine @OHSUNews @GRAIL #PATHFINDER2 #MCED @OncoAlert @oncodaily #CancerScreening #EarlyDetection

This is the most insane footage you will see in the Bangor, Maine universe.... ....We have been officially invaded. My friend Adam Stade Bangor Maine on a Facebook post shows us what happened. Go find his page and follow him. Also, the only reason some of you know me is the Maine Wire, find them and follow them!

This value extraction isn’t limited to the AMA, other medical societies are trying their own versions while marginalizing members/doctors. Good luck to them. ⏳
RFK Jr. and President Trump are taking on the American Medical Association’s monopoly over the billing codes used throughout America’s healthcare system. “CPT codes are owned exclusively by the American Medical Association, the AMA.” “Decades ago, Congress gave the AMA a de facto monopoly over these codes.” “Last year alone, organizations across all of our healthcare systems paid the AMA more than three hundred million dollars just to use those CPT codes.” “Those costs don’t disappear.” “Healthcare providers and insurers and employers pass them on to their patients.” “Every American pays the price.” “Washington created a system that puts special interests ahead of the American people.” “President Trump is changing all that.”

As a physician in Lanc Co I’ve personally witnessed the Amish choose à la carte medicine. It’s the way they live. You can’t help folks who don’t want it.
