A 10-year-old boy walks less than a mile down a country road in a Georgia town of 300 people.
Deputies pick him up, show up at the house hours later, and put his mother in handcuffs on the front porch for "reckless conduct".
When she points out it isn't illegal for a kid to walk to the store, the deputy actually says on bodycam: "It is when they're 10 years old."
We went from kids riding bikes everywhere until dark to throwing mothers in jail because an older boy walked to the store. The county is going to write a massive check.

1. FIND OUT HOW MUCH WATER YOU ACTUALLY HAVE. 💧
The basic emergency recommendation is one gallon per person per day.
For a family of four, that's 12 gallons for just three days.
Go count yours. I'll wait.
2. TRY COOKING ONE MEAL WITHOUT ELECTRICITY. 🍳
Seriously. One meal.
Find out whether you have a safe alternative cooking method and the supplies to use it.
Outdoor grills and camping stoves stay OUTDOORS. Carbon monoxide is not a seasoning.
3. FIND YOUR EMERGENCY SUPPLIES. 🔦
Not theoretically.
Actually locate your flashlights, batteries, first-aid kit, radio, and important documents.
If your emergency flashlight hasn't been seen since Christmas 2019, you may have a problem.
4. HAVE A 15-MINUTE FAMILY CONVERSATION. 📻
What happens if the phones stop working?
Where will everyone meet?
Who checks on elderly relatives?
Who knows how to shut off the water?
A plan that exists only in your head isn't much of a family plan.
5. INTRODUCE YOURSELF TO A NEIGHBOR. 🤝
This one costs absolutely nothing.
Your neighbor might be a nurse, electrician, mechanic, gardener, or someone who knows how to solve problems without consulting YouTube.
And you might have something useful to offer them.

NEW: Gilbert man on mushrooms stabs and shoots two dead before officer fatally shoots him
During a party in which Brett Eschliman, 28, was the fifth will, he killed two and wounded a third after the group ingested psychedelic mushrooms in a Gilbert, Arizona trailer.
He stabbed and shot a man, then shot and stabbed a woman more than a dozen times in a trailer on the property.
He returned and stabbed a third woman multiple times and struck her with a firearm; she survived.
Officers arrived within minutes after a 911 call from a victim and neighbors. Eschliman lunged at an officer and swiped at his rifle before retreating inside with an aluminum mop handle. An officer entered the bedroom and fired two rounds, striking him.
