I'm taking a page out of @HowardMarksBook’s memo and launching "The Note." Subscribe for periodic, unfiltered, entertaining and useful tips. caseinv.com/media#the-note I was recently chatting with a very successful real estate investor going through challenges. He’s lost a significant portion of his portfolio. My argument was to stay aggressive. The best assets will never be cheaper than they are while he’s still hurting, and the moment he feels comfortable again, so will everyone else, and itll be difficult to buy right. As Rodney Atkins famously opined, "If you're goin' through hell keep on going, Don't slow down if you're scared don't show it, You might get out before the devil even knows you're there!"

Sooo I have some news 😎
I’m excited to share that I’ve hired @shantiryle as my new Chief of Staff at CASE! 🙌 Shanti has spent years inside commercial real estate, sitting at the intersection of story, data, and deals. At Crexi she led content strategy, built engines that actually moved brokers and investors to act, and produced The Crexi Podcast, where she pulled real insight out of people who live this business every day. She knows how to turn complex situations into clear narratives, and clear narratives into momentum. What made this an easy decision for me wasn’t just her résumé. It was how she thinks. Shanti sees three steps ahead, asks the hard questions, and then puts in the work to make the answer real - which in this seat means growing the firm. She’s wired to make my job easier and the business stronger and she’s comfortable owning outcomes and motivating the people around her, including me, to play at a higher level. With Shanti in this role, I get to spend more of my time where I create the most value: structuring workouts, solving complex debt problems, and building our investment platform. She’s already given me the opportunity to take on additional projects and firm initiatives, and she’s helping drive our business development motion forward so CASE can do more of the work we’re built for. She brings judgment, calm, her famous cheerful attitude and real operating chops, plus a proven track record of turning long term content and relationship work into actual pipeline and growth. I’m genuinely excited to have her as a partner in the firm and to see what we can build with her in the mix. 🚀 Welcome to CASE, Shanti!

One of my favorite conversations from ICSC Las Vegas wasn't about real estate at all. Shanti Ryle from CREXI and I talked about networking and specifically what not to do. Too many people attend conferences looking over someone's shoulder for a "better" connection or scanning badges to determine whether a conversation is worth their time. That's a mistake. You never know who knows someone who knows someone. More importantly, people remember how you make them feel. The best networkers aren't the ones collecting the most business cards. They're the ones building authentic relationships, making eye contact, asking thoughtful questions, and treating everyone with respect. What's the best networking lesson you've learned over the years? #Networking #Leadership #BusinessDevelopment #CommercialRealEstate #ICSC #CRE #RelationshipBuilding #ProfessionalDevelopment #BusinessGrowth

Eyes up here people!! Thanks for the feature @amycalandrino 💕💕
Flashback Friday. Great interview with @shantiryle of @CREXinc at @icsc that is in vogue all the time. We discuss the importance of smiling, making eye contact, and introducing yourself confidently. We emphasize coming without expectations, being open to new connections, and remembering that good conversations can lead to unexpected opportunities through mutual connections. No badge surfing! 🏄‍♀️ #NetworkingTips #WomenInCRE #ICSC #RealEstate #Crexi #ContentMarketing #NetworkingAdvice #ProfessionalDevelopment #CommercialRealEstate #WomenInBusiness #fbf #FlashbackFriday

An unfortunate downside to the online world where everyone can find “their people” People seem to get their identity in what is holding them back. It’s not worth the energy if it’s something you can’t change and it will eventually become an excuse instead of a reason.

April, on the move with Crexi. From the California Assessors Association Spring 2026 to the 4th Annual Real Estate Gala with @realEstateTrent and @BobKnakal—and plenty of office visits in between—we’ve been connecting with the people behind the deals 📸 Grateful for the conversations, time spent, and relationships built along the way. ✈️Next stop: Las Vegas. We’re heading to @ICSC next month—come meet the team and see how deals flow across Crexi network, and how AI powers the work behind them. Let’s connect in Vegas: hubs.la/Q04f951X0 #retwit

Go work for this man!! He’s seeing things in the crystal ball folks aren’t even thinking about yet.
CRE is in a tizzy, worrying that AI will make the workforce extinct. Meanwhile, I’m hiring. I’d love to “give you a shot,” but I can’t train you from scratch. We’re not looking for rinse and repeat artists or deal chasers looking for dinners. What we’re looking for are people who can actually think, break down documents, assess negotiations, run models, and help us turn complexity into strategy. At CASE, what you’ll do, regardless of how many years of experience you have, will be unlike anything you’ve done before. It’s the job of a human to keep improving, especially now that the competition may be a machine or people who have become slaves to one. And yes, you’ll have the best of AI to assist you, used within strict confidentiality protections to safeguard our data. But make no mistake, the thinking is your responsibility.
