Usually tech companies are masters of IR framing but here Google seems to have hired IR reps from the banking sector, as they foolishly hid a large charge from the $SPCX price decline.

"Vote for me or you'll get nuked"

For all my non-tech people hearing about AI hacking stuff. Here’s a primer on what’s happening and how to contextualize it. Tl;dr it’s a nothing burger for non-techs as we transition to a more stable/secure cyber security architecture. First off, cyber security professionals I’ve spoken to this week are completely unphased by this wave of issues. Nothing is new or unexpected, AI attacks look indistinguishable from mass based attacks by PRC and other similar APT teams. Oh TLS isn’t secure? Oh there are issues with a certificate authority? Hardware/software backdoors put in by IC have leaked and require a cleanup? Shocker. Non-techs were worried about AI slop code creating bugs that would leave us in a permanent state of compromise. The opposite is true. It’s the unpatched human slop code that’s the issue. There is no reinsurance market for cybersecurity so no one has ever taken it seriously at an institutional level. “Cybersecurity” always been about legal compliance rather than actual security. AI is changing that because it’s helping speed up defense by 10-100x. To date the relationship between offense and defense has been so assymmetric that there was no defense. It was common to hear “wait which side of the firewall are we on?” And similar comments. You also know this because everyone’s data is constantly hacked and released and nothing happens. The OPM database with all the US Military/Intelligence Community classification interviews was leaked years ago and nothing happened publicly. That was the norm, not the exception. Anyway, now we have an acceleration of cybersecurity defensive capabilities. We’re even seeing a reinsurance market begin to form. Which means we might actually get to parity (1:1) in attack/defense capability in a couple of quarters. This came at an interesting time from a media perspective because the signal fires had gone off to over-emphasize AI and cybersecurity as a kind of October Surprise, but the trump admin by making the issue about liability kneecapp’d that issue weeks ago. So it’s hilarious to see the usual suspects continuing to beat that drum as we see “zero-days” come out due to AI capabilities proliferate. Anyway the right move is to let the pony-tail corner people do their thing and take no action legally/policy wise. Don’t let anyone mislead you, we do not need any additional government anything related to cybersecurity because of AI. In fact the entire thing is getting more secure than ever, faster than anyone could possibly imagine 12 months ago.

Facebook, IG and Muse are “free” and yet they are extracting over $1000 a person from many Muse users. Your attention is the product.
$META CFO: "Muse right now skews to our highest value users. I think over 20% of U.S. Muse users today are $1,000-plus annual ARPU users. So, it gives you a sense of kind of what the early adopters look like, and so they are not totally representative of the overall U.S. user base, which is not representative of the overall worldwide user base."

What happens if you lose money from cybercrime / fraud at a bank or broker? - If it’s the bank’s fault, the bank’s insurance pays. - if you erroneously wired or gave access, or your agent did something, you pay. - FDIC and SIPC are not involved. Be careful with agents.

The GRU hacked into Jared Kushner's iPhone. Dutch military intelligence (MIVD) then recruited a GRU spy who gave them access to the hacked phone. What MIVD discovered was that Kushner had access to two bank accounts --one Azerbaijani, the other Israeli --where Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Emirati ruler Mohammed bin Zayed deposited money. It sounds like a slightly far-fetched episode of "Slow Horses," but it's real. And it proves just how eye-poppingly corrupt this administration was and continues to be as its "special envoy" decides the fate of tens of millions in Europe in the Middle East. Simply incredible reporting by Matthew Cole, drawn from his new book on Kushner. vanityfair.com/story/jared-k…

From @arpitrage, a good reminder to 2 factor everything and assume your data is vulnerable to theft. 2 factor with authentication not text.

We will make sure that it’s legal — at a minimum could be used to leapfrog golf carts in the Villages.
Replying to @RonDeSantis
Will this be street legal in Florida?

Milton Friedman: “In the long run, government will spend whatever the tax system will raise, plus as much more as it can get away with. That’s what history tells us.” “So my view has always been: cut taxes on any occasion, for any reason, in any way that’s politically feasible, as the only way to keep down the size of government.”

Given the below, who can think of a great and obvious idea to make social security solvent?
Retirees will get a raise in 2027 … social security benefits are set to increase by 3.6%, marking the largest cost of living adjustment since 2023

It seems increasingly that stablecoins are, as one expert I spoke with put it, “all well and good until you need to buy fruit.” Much more sizzle than steak at present.
Wells Fargo CEO: Use cases in the US for stablecoins remain unclear, but we're building solutions to be prepared as opportunities potentially unfold

Unfortunately Opendoor $OPEN has been a -70% performer rather than a 100x bagger but I suppose the timeline was open ended. Hopefully Drake protected capital.
Is @Opendoor the new @Carvana? Investor @EricJackson thinks so, and he wants @Drake to hear about it. In this exclusive clip from “This Week in Startups,” Jackson joins @Jason and @Alex to explain why he thinks $OPEN has “100 bagger” potential, the importance of getting @rabois in the fold, and why he’s so eager to bring a certain Canadian rap icon along for the ride. Jackson famously made the right call on $CVNA, even after hedge funds declared it DOA. Is lightning about to strike twice? Found out for yourself.

Almost every candidate this cycle is trying to address the issue of rising costs that have battered families in the post-Covid era, yet how many are addressing the reason why things have become more expensive in the first place? The institutionalization of massive borrowing and spending is a formula for persistent inflation and declining purchasing power.

very strange system where a 25 year old who can’t afford rent pays the retirement for someone living in a $20 million home.
