Can someone get @GadSaad to talk some sense into this pal of his?
For 1000 years they persecuted Ashkenazi Jews as Christ-killers. And suddenly it’s convenient to say, “Actually, you were never even there”? Could these Jew-haters get their goddamn story straight? Also, is Joe Rogan actually this dumb? I mean, seriously, what’s the theory? A majority of the world’s Ashkenazi Jews live in the US. Is Israel just hoping they’ll keep their 23andme results secret?

For 1000 years they persecuted Ashkenazi Jews as Christ-killers. And suddenly it’s convenient to say, “Actually, you were never even there”? Could these Jew-haters get their goddamn story straight? Also, is Joe Rogan actually this dumb? I mean, seriously, what’s the theory? A majority of the world’s Ashkenazi Jews live in the US. Is Israel just hoping they’ll keep their 23andme results secret?
New: Joe Rogan reveals to comedian Sam Tallent that the real reason Israel restricts DNA ancestry testing is because most of the people over there aren’t Semites and are actually just European Jews: ROGAN: “The real Semites are the Palestinians. Benjamin Netanyahu’s family is from Poland.” CONTEXT: Israel does have restrictions on DNA testing. According to Israel's Ministry of Health, paternity and family-relationship DNA tests generally require a COURT ORDER, even when everyone involved consents. And there's an especially surprising detail. MyHeritage, an ancestry-testing company HEADQUARTERED IN ISRAEL that offers DNA kits internationally, explicitly lists ISRAEL among the countries where its consumer ancestry tests are unavailable. But that does NOT establish Rogan's allegation about WHY these restrictions exist. Israel's genetic-information laws address matters including consent, family relationships, privacy, and potential consequences for children. There is no substantiated evidence that the restrictions were created to conceal the ethnic origins of Israel's Jewish population. And when Rogan brings up Netanyahu's Polish family roots, he's referencing something with a documented historical basis. Netanyahu's father, Benzion Netanyahu, was born in WARSAW in 1910, before his family immigrated to what was then British Mandatory Palestine. But European family history doesn't automatically mean someone has no ancient Middle Eastern ancestry. In fact, scientific research reveals a much more complicated story. IMPORTANT NOTES: A major genetic study published in NATURE in 2010 found evidence connecting many Jewish diaspora communities to shared ancestral origins in the LEVANT. And a 2020 study published in CELL examined ancient DNA from Bronze Age populations in the region. Researchers found substantial genetic continuity between ancient Levantine populations and multiple populations living in the region today, including Jewish and Arab communities. In other words, the evidence points to a history of shared regional ancestry, migrations, and intermixing. It’s not a simple genetic division between two populations. Then Rogan takes the discussion even further. He questions whether the term ANTISEMITISM should instead be called “anti-Jewish,” arguing that Palestinians have a stronger claim to being called Semites. But there's another important historical distinction. “Semitic” originally refers to a LANGUAGE FAMILY that includes Hebrew and Arabic, not a scientifically defined genetic race. And the word “antisemitism,” despite its linguistic roots, has historically referred specifically to hostility or prejudice toward JEWISH PEOPLE.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Extensive genetic research shows Ashkenazi Jews have significant Levantine ancestry with Y-chromosomes tracing to the region. Israeli law regulated domestic lab genetic testing amid privacy fears. Israelis can purchase commercial ancestry tests from abroad. hms.harvard.edu/news/ancient-d… med.stanford.edu/news/insights/… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_s… genomebiology.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11… pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12… x.com/grok/status/20… sciencedirect.com/science/articl… snopes.com/fact-check/isr… int.customercare.23andme.com/hc/en-us/artic…

There are bad politicians and bad politicians. And then there are racist, cowardly “leaders” who aren’t fit to lead a local falafel joint.

This is fundamental to the antizionist playbook. Separate Jews from Israel. Weaken the Jewish state — but more importantly — chip away at the Jewish story. Gaslight them into renouncing their homeland. Make Jews choose between their history and their future. Beyond sickening.

“I venerate Judaism.. I stand with the Jewish people.., but not Israel.” This simply cannot be said with sincerity. Essential to Jewishness—religious or secular—is the idea that we are one people. The Jewish world today is split right down the middle between the US and Israel; to now demand half the world’s Jews stop caring about the other half is not only unreasonable, it is cruel—and also an impossible, unnatural demand. To say to Jews, “we love you—just so long as we can hate the Jews in the next town over,” is just a modern twist on the oldest hatred and not a bargain most Jews will take. I think it’s time we make it clear: if that’s the deal you’re offering, we sure as shit don’t love you back.

A reminder that this bizarro hallucination is from the same guy whose so-called “reputable human rights NGO” is a major source for the fashionable blood libels spreading across the world. Remember this next time you hear another claim about “major HR groups have determined…”
Why would Israel want its ally Morocco to control Ceuta as opposed to its critic Spain? One reason may be that Ceuta is the closest point in Africa to Europe, sitting astride the Strait of Gibraltar, meaning that Spain currently controls both sides of the strait. The Strait of Gibraltar is only 8 miles across, as opposed to the Strait of Hormuz, which is 21 miles. If Iran can control the Strait of Hormuz, Spain could easily control the Strait of Gibraltar and potentially block Israeli access to the Atlantic. nytimes.com/2026/07/30/world…

I woke up this morning filled with grief and rage. Three more protesters were hanged this morning in Iran. Publicly, from cranes, to show the consequences of dissent. A fourth young woman, Anahita Azarshab, was shot and killed for protesting the hangings. If you haven’t breathed a word about them, don’t you dare speak up to protest the war on their killers.

First, what is happening in Gaza is not the Holocaust. That does not mean what is happening in Gaza isn't horrific or that it doesn't deserve the world's attention. Second, it's ridiculous to see Holocaust deniers using the word "Holocaust." It's also interesting to see this person pretending to care about human lives after spending years whitewashing the crimes of the criminal Islamic Republic against civilians in Iran. Spare us the hypocrisy.
Whenever I write 'Gaza Holocaust,' the tweet is heavily suppressed.

The newspeak of our time: redefine words for your political ends. Need an "apartheid" accusation? Just change the meaning to suit. Need a "genocide" label? Ditto. Your cause need antisemitic rhetoric? Just change what "antisemitism" means. A world of twisted possibilities.
The British Medical Association just voted to stop following the IHRA definition of antisemitism. The decision is supposedly about free speech, even though the IHRA definition DOES NOT prohibit criticizing Israel. All it does is point out that criticism of Israel can be antisemitic. In fact, most antisemitism today disguises itself as anti-Israel rhetoric, while still spreading old antisemitic ideas. Without clarifying this feature of antisemitism today, an antisemitism definition is virtually irrelevant. At a time when Jewish doctors are leaving the UK because of widespread antisemitism, the NHS needs to be raising standards, not throwing them out the window.

It Was Supposed to Be History I'm a Polish filmmaker living in London. I wasn't raised to care about antisemitism. Quite the opposite. Like many Poles of my generation, I grew up with a version of history that focused heavily on Polish suffering during the Second World War. I visited Auschwitz as a teenager, yet somehow left without truly understanding the scale of what had happened to Europe's Jews. That changed when I was 19 and worked on Schindler's List. For the first time, I was confronted with parts of history that had been missing from my education. Later, living in Paris and spending time in New York, I met Jewish people whose understanding of Poland, Europe and history was very different from my own. Some conversations were uncomfortable. A few were life-changing. The more I learned, the more I realised that antisemitism didn't disappear after the Holocaust. It adapted. Today it often arrives dressed as political activism, conspiracy theories, selective outrage, historical revisionism, or simply a double standard applied to the world's only Jewish state. I am not Jewish. I have no family connection to Israel. What I do have is a deep distrust of propaganda, mob thinking, and people who demand that history be simplified into slogans. My work on antisemitism began with a simple realisation: if I could be misled about history, so could millions of others. That is why I make films, conduct interviews, and challenge narratives. Not because I have all the answers. Because I spent too many years believing things that weren't true.

A perfectly reasonable view were this conflict actually about that. But it's simply not. It is and ever has been: one side wants a state for Jews, the other side wants no state for Jews ("by any means necessary"). Contrary to popular wisdom, it's not all that complicated.
"If one accepts that Jews constitute a people entitled to self-determination, how can one deny the same principle to Palestinians? If one believes Israelis deserve security, freedom and dignity, one should want the same for Palestinians." substack.com/inbox/post/1997…

The Bund is fascinating but this review like Bund itself is a triumph of wish over reality. Bundists who werent killed by Hitler were shot by Stalin inc Alter Erlich Feffer Markish Bergelson many in the Night of Murdered Poets 1952. A dangerous world. Yet oddly the review just says: ‘Bund ceased operating in 1949.’
Jews in the diaspora who want to celebrate their heritage without tying themselves to Israel might look to the Bundist concept of “hereness”, which a new book by Molly Crabapple celebrates economist.com/culture/2026/0…

Fun fact: most Jews who ended up in Palestine/Israel were on the spectrum of “meh” to decidedly opposed to Zionism. Whether it was assimilated German Jews fleeing the Nazis or the fiercely anti-Zionist Orthodox from Hungary/Romania, they ended up in Israel anyway. Ask why.

There are more Muslims living in Israel as full-citizens than there are Jews living (as citizens or not) in the 49 Muslim majority countries put together. This should be the only argument you need to debunk the false claim that Israel is an ethnostate.

I first learned Ohr Hachaim on Parshat Yitro 37 years ago, but these words remained indelible: הגיע חשוק ונחשק לחושק וחשוק... All kinds of theological knots to unpack, but the raw power of the passage encapsulates the 3000-year-old story of one people.

This is an astute take, although it’s likely a miss on predicting a split vote between Satmar and other Hasidic groups. (Although the Haredi non-Hasidic vote is a different story.) It is rare for a NYC mayor to win without the Satmar vote, and it’s usually a strong leading indicator. These are odds you can bet on. This isn’t because Satmar itself is all-powerful. But Hasidic “voting blocs” are nearly always aligned among subgroups, whose political calculus is nearly identical and 100% pragmatic. (Rare exceptions exist, eg Clinton/Lazio 2000, but they’re super anomalous.) What’s key is that Hasidic leadership endorsements reflect neither conventional left/right politics, nor where they stand on Israel, nor even nominal internal ideologies (eg LGBT views). They turn on one single question only: “will this candidate deliver for our communities’ particular needs and strengthen the survival of our chosen way of life.” Very little else matters. And elected officials in NYC-metro know and understand this.
Replying to @CaliforniaFirst
It is not a great surprise but it it's not about anti-Zionism at all. Satmar anti-Zionism is nominal and theological and not of the same kind of Mamdani's leftist anti-Zionism. Many other anti-Zionist Hasids sects won't back Mamdani. I don't think Israel is the main reason for their decision-making in either case
