Addd this du’a to your Tahajjud prayers:
“Ya Rabb, if my sins are coming between me and the acceptance of my du’as, please forgive me, wipe away my sins, make me better, and bring ease to all the matters that are troubling my heart. Ameen.” 🤲🏻

An important reminder from Atomic Habits by James Clear:
“It doesn't make sense to continue wanting something if you're not willing to do what it takes to get it. If you don't want to live the lifestyle, then release yourself from the desire. To crave the result but not the process is to guarantee disappointment.”

There’s a high chance that you are the reason you haven’t gotten the result you’re looking for. It’s a tough pill to swallow but the truth all the same.

Trust the Almighty’s timing. Only He knows why you're in the state you are for so long. Perhaps the delay in answering your prayer is better for you than getting what you want now. He is the Best Planner.
Hey, good morning, y'all know I love you guys to see beautiful stuff relating to finance. So if you are a finance enthusiast, there is this YouTube channel you may want to spend some time on. Really nice and fantastic documentaries in there.
You know... If you want to have a fair sense of some top finance professionals (like Jamie Dimon, Kevin Griffin George Soros, Bill Ackman, Stanley Druckenmiller, Steve Schwarzman, Carl Icahn, Larry Fink, Cathie Wood, Howard Marks, Michael Milken Sam Zell, etc.)...
... or about how some top institutions came to be (like JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, Blackstone, Vanguard, Bank of America, American Express, Charles Schwab, etc.)...

Apply the theory of relevance at work today.
I still used it in an email to my leaders yesterday, and I got good feedback.
Let me teach you.
So, someone asks you to explain what a tool does for the business. You explain its architecture, dependencies and processing logic.
While those microscopic details are good, they want to know what is relevant to them in that moment.
Think: what does this help them achieve?
So, you summarise the microscopic detail, and you specifically call out what they need to focus on for their own needs.
You can say:
‘What is relevant for you is…..’
‘This is only for your information; you do not have to do anything…’ etc.
Remember the ‘So what?’ principle.
It is you unveiling the hood for them so they do not have to do it themselves.
Puts you in a good spot.
Mom: When you get married and have your own house, you can do whatever you want. Not here
Wife: You're not going to do whatever you want here. This isn't your mom's house

Nigeria Produces. But Who Captures the Value?
One of the underrated things about working in consulting is how much industry knowledge you accumulate along the way.
Over the last few months, I have been directly involved in building financial models for businesses in the cassava and cocoa value chains.
And it has been quite an experience.
Take cassava.
Most of us think: cassava → garri/fufu.
But the value chain goes much further.
Cassava can be processed into high quality cassava flour, industrial starch, ethanol, sorbitol, glucose syrup and animal feed, among other products.
Then cocoa.
We think: cocoa → chocolate.
But cocoa beans can be processed into cocoa liquor, cocoa butter and cocoa powder, which then feed into chocolate, confectionery, beverages, cosmetics and other industries.
Even some of the parts considered waste can have commercial applications.
And it got me thinking:
Who captures the value?
The farmer producing the raw material?
The processor?
The manufacturer?
The exporter?
The further we move along the value chain, the more opportunities we create to capture additional value from the same raw material.
So perhaps Nigeria should not only be asking:
“How much cassava and cocoa can we produce?”
But:
“How much value can we capture from every tonne we produce?”
Nigeria is already a major producer.
The bigger opportunity, in my view, is moving from:
Planting → Processing
Commodities → Industrial inputs
Production → Industrialisation
Imagine being not just one of the largest producers of cassava and cocoa, but also a major producer and exporter of starch, sorbitol, ethanol, cocoa butter, cocoa powder, cocoa liquor, chocolate and other downstream products.
That is where the real opportunity gets interesting.
And ironically, this is what financial modelling has taught me.
Sometimes you start by modelling the numbers and end up learning an entire industry.
