Last Night in Soho’ turns 5 today. To celebrate this mini-milestone, here’s some concept art for Marcus Rowland’s amazing production design on the movie. This art was done by a talented human, Mr Paul Threadgold. You can see how we turned Goodge Place back to the ’60s, how we created the period Café de Paris on a soundstage, the fictitious Rialto club, an unnamed basement clip joint, and how we sent stretches of Greek, Frith and Bateman Streets in real Soho back in time. It’s been so lovely to read some of your comments on ‘Last Night in Soho’ this week. I remain very proud of the movie, both for the realization of some ambitious worlds and for the wonderful time I spent with this cast and crew. Those of you who saw it on the big screen when it was first released, I applaud you, especially with in the middle of an Omicron spike. But I do not begrudge anyone who came to it later, either. New viewers are always welcome. You can’t be late to a movie. Happy 5th, ‘Last Night in Soho’. See you in the Toucan for a pint of Numbers. @lastnightinsoho

Wildwood was genuinely felt like i was watching Hollywood magic again. I kept asking myself "how the fuck did they do that?!" Multiple times while watching. I hadn't felt that in a long time.

Strong hold for #LaikaStudios’s PG-13 artsy animation #Wildwood at US #BoxOffice! Distributed by #Fathom, it grossed 1.4M on BIGGEST WED ever for Laika, just a -30% drop from TUE Discount Day (vs #MissingLink’s 531k, -36.8%, #TheBoxTrolls’s 637k, -26.1%, #Coraline’s 696k, -10.6%, #KuboAndTheTwoStrings’ 929k, -38.8%, #ParaNorman’s 1.2M, -31.5%). It hits a 17.1M cume in the U.S. in 6 days The hope is that strong WOM & awards season keep the original animation alive both in the U.S. & overseas to, along with revenue generated from international distribution rights’ sales. recoup at least part of its pricey 100M production price tag not including marketing.

Genuinely disturbing news - my friend Clara, who you might know as the Super Creek at Trackside, was abducted by ICE at the Rochester Airport on her way home from Uma week. Please read and share her story: facebook.com/share/18Rmm5SHK…

Going into week two since “Wildwood” released, it’s looking rough for this $100 million production. It really is a shame. The film is phenomenal. It’s got heart, it’s honest, and it’s the result of true artistry. At least I preordered my physical copy of it.
Go see Travis Knight's "Wildwood." Go see it alone, with family, with kinds, with friends. Just go see it. It's phenomenal. It's the modern fairy tale we needed to see magic & love again. It's the most ambitious stop-motion animated film ever made. It has heart, it has grit, it has courage. It's one of those rare films that comes along and upends the medium by its pure honesty about what it's portraying. Everyone knows how time-consuming stop-motion animation is, so the only think I'm going to say about it, is that sometimes there are dozens of characters on screen and all of them move, all of them have that magical realism about them. The amount of work that went into the flow of this film is magnificent. It's a film that is beautifully shot. Cinematography: awesome. Score: awesome. Sound design, OMG, the sound design, it's so immersive. The story is wonderful, and as I've noted full of heart, its raw soul expression of imagination, of creativity, of that which makes us human. It will make you feel things, and rage against rage itself, against grief, against all those unfair horrors of life that make good people turn evil. The symbolism in this film is simply perfect. From the manipulative Alexandra, who is pure grief embodied & might be one of the best portrayals of a witch in art since The White Witch of Narnia, to the bureaucratic Roger Swindon, who is just the sort of administrative evil we all despise, villainy is real, it's true, and it's not expressed with some weird form of manipulative sympathy. That scene about couples being unable to have children but still having love that they must express unto the world. The toll it take, becuse it does take a toll on the future. Pure poetic brilliance. Prue McKeel, Curtis Mehlberg & the McKeel parents are all very well realized and humanly relatable. All the side characters are brilliant, and have their moment to shine. Who would have guessed I'd feel so much for a rat. Oh, Septima! One of the greatest secondary characters in the media. The cast's voice acting is brilliant. And that final battle. I can't tress to you how impressive it is. It's violent, it's bloody, it's cruel, it's so very very melancholy. And yet you watch it and reflect on the current state of our world and see that the metaphor it presents has been lost to storytellers today. I won't spoil the ending, but its pure love, pure hate, pure humanity fighting against itself. Nothing in the film is forced, not emotion, not ideology, not politics, not family, the setting is reflective of the story it's telling. Portland, Oregon is presented just as it is, from its ideology to it's flaws, to its intimate beauty. The narrative nuance of this film is deep, I can see books being written about it. I can't praise this film enough. Go see "Wildwood." People need to support genuine & honest art like this. I hope it makes all the money, & I hope Studio Laika gets all the awards for it, because frankly they simply deserve it. "Wildwood" is 10/10 for me, & worthy of all the praise it's gonna get.

Motherfuckers this is some of the best man-made, painstakingly hand-made, REAL art you’ll ever get and you’re not seeing it on the silver screen! Walk the walk! Go see it!
‘WILDWOOD’ opened with $11M domestically. The second lowest opening for a LAIKA film.

The academy needs to start recognizing animation as real art just like most of these Oscar bait films. Same with Horror. Tired of the separation of art and acting like one genre is superior to another. Obsession, Odyssey and Wildwood all need best picture nominations.
Imagine a world where WILDWOOD wins Best Picture. I want to live in that world.

He visto Wildwood y creo que es la mejor película de animación que he visto en mi vida. Si tenéis la oportunidad de ir a verla, os la recomiendo muchísimo. Se trata de un ejercicio artístico mayúsculo y una obra maestra de la animación.

WILDWOOD is the best fantasy film I’ve seen in a long, long time. Its breathtaking animation is only part of its magic. I love how it trusts young audiences, never mistaking childhood for a world untouched by pain.A moving coming-of-age story with a wonderfully bittersweet ending
