A huge well done to @MarcelNimani, the rest of the backroom staff and all the players involved in what was a very good month. A thoroughly deserved award! 👏

A Covid enquiry has criticised Matt Hancock’s protection of care homes. To be fair, he had a lot to handle at the time, from an unprecedented pandemic to his adviser’s arse cheeks

When I met Angela Rayner to campaign for change to overly aggressive council tax debt collection, with its unprecedented rapid escalation to balliffs, she nodded like most politicians do.
I explained it was destructive for individuals, councils and the economy. She listened more then said she'd change it. I was sceptical. Yet a consultation was launched within weeks and delightfully the change announced within 18mths (its in place from next April) - bullet train pace for politics.
I've a rule that if I campaign for a politician (of any party) to do something, and they do it, I say thank you. Its important to recognise it. So thank you so much Angela Rayner for listening and more importantly acting. The changes coming are a great start.
I promised we'd make council tax fairer, and I’m getting on with the job.
Too many working people have seen council tax debt spiral before they had the chance to get help.
That's why we're introducing more time to pay, clearer warnings if you miss a payment and more support from councils.
Thanks to @MartinSLewis and @mmhpi for their tireless campaigning to make this change happen.

Blimey. I am shocked. The Telegraph has got an exclusive on the internal investigation into Reform which finds nobody in Reform did anything at all wrong in any way ever about anything. I’m really looking forward to the GB News debate on this amazing news.
EXCLUSIVE: Reform UK did not break any laws when senior party figures were recorded by undercover journalists discussing a £500,000 gift from a foreign donor, an internal investigation has concluded.
A 27-page report, commissioned by Reform, after a Channel 4 investigation into funding also cleared the party of wrongdoing over the funding of three opinion polls.

Some photos from the official opening of the Greatness Football & Community Centre 🤩
A great evening with even better company. It was brilliant to see everyone who has played a part in planning and building this amazing facility come together, from within the club, the local council, construction and architectural teams, consultants, local businesses and individuals and the wider community 🙌
A huge milestone for the club and the community and one that wouldn’t have been possible without everyone involved 👏
The centre is available to hire for events, with individuals, groups and companies welcome to get in touch. The pitch can be hired alongside the centre too, providing the opportunity for events involving football on the pitch followed by food and drinks ⚽️🥤
If you’re interested in hiring the venue or would like to discuss sponsorship and partnership opportunities available, get in touch with us via DM or email - [email protected] 📥

You know that feeling when you book a flight for 50 quid and somehow it ends up costing 100?
Getting seats together, correcting a typo, another charge here and there, it all adds up.
When the cost of living is already squeezing people, those endless extras can feel relentless.
So we're changing the rules for you.
Parents won't need to pay a penny extra just to sit next to their own children.
You'll be able to fix any name errors on your booking free of charge.
And because the last thing you want once you're on the plane is more stress, we're working with the industry to make sure that disruptive passengers who have been banned from one airline can be banned from flying with other airlines too.
I know holidays are expensive and these are small things, but hopefully they'll make your trip just that little bit cheaper and easier.
That's exactly the kind of thing I want this government to keep on fixing.

Hard to overstate how significant that speech was in terms of a new policy agenda and political direction for the country. So many big issues on which he has kicked off a national conversation. Also extremely well crafted and well delivered, at times very moving. Apart from the Swinney quote and a ref to johnson and Truss I don’t think he mentioned any of the other parties. They would be wise to think carefully before rushing to judgement on it.
