Estimates vary by methodology and coverage, but cumulative MEV extracted across major chains since ~2020 exceeds $7B in some aggregates, with Ethereum alone over $1.3B through 2026. Sandwich attacks (direct extraction from traders via worse execution) account for a large share—hundreds of millions to ~$2B lifetime in reported figures—while daily totals often run $10-20M network-wide. Solana sandwiches alone hit $370-500M in one 16-month window. These are lower bounds; full measurement remains incomplete.
