Sadly it’s been a numbers game for well over ten years, the only option is to try and do both (play the numbers aswell as being true to yourself as an artist)
People care less about the art of music and presentation. Now it’s more about success.
“Here’s my latest single’s chart position”, “Help me get to #1”, “We only book DJs in the top 100”, etc. Focusing exclusively on numbers in the sphere of artistic creation, is so weird to me.
