Sanders: Trump’s racism is not new. Fifteen years ago, he came up with this lie that Obama was not born in America… Much of this campaign in Michigan right now is based on racist attacks against Abdul El-Sayed. The reason that they are using Islamophobia against Abdul is because they have nothing to say about the real issues facing working people. Mr. President, instead of slandering Abdul and his family, what are you going to do about the health care crisis in America? What are you going to do about the housing crisis? What are you going to do about income and wealth inequality? These guys have nothing to say about the real issues impacting working families, and all they can do is foment hatred and divisiveness.

EL-SAYED: I get that the President takes personal offense to my first name. He doesn't mind as much when it's the Saudis who are funding his son-in-law's private equity. Doesn't seem to mind as much when it's the Qataris who are giving them a $400 million private jet. He just seems to have trouble pronouncing it when it's my name.  I don't care how he pronounces my name. I don't even care that he remembers my whole name. Because he can just go on and call me senator after November.
