Injective could soon let institutions trade tokenized assets in Korean won. $INJ @injective signed an MOU with BDACS, a South Korean digital asset custodian. The plan is to use BDACS stablecoin KRW1 as the won settlement asset for real world assets and tokenization on the network. Right now most of this settles in dollar stablecoins. This would let Korean institutions settle in their own currency. KRW1 is backed one to one by won, held in separate accounts at a major Korean bank. At first, only approved institutional partners can mint and redeem it. All of it also depends on approval, as South Korea finishes its rules for won stablecoins. So why does Korea want this? Data from the Financial Supervisory Service shows stablecoins have flowed out of the five biggest won exchanges for 18 months in a row. That adds up to about $10.4B through June 2026. People swap won for dollar stablecoins and move offshore to reach things they can’t get at home, like some derivatives, DeFi and tokenized assets. A won settlement asset is one way to keep more of that money onshore. Korea isn’t new to Injective either. POSCO International and LG CNS are running a pilot that tokenizes real trade receivables from 80+ overseas branches, and they plan to move toward production. Injective says it has processed over $7.5B in RWA volume, with $1B plus in tokenized assets issued. Now here is the honest part,This is an MOU, not a launch. KRW1 is still mostly in a pilot phase, and wider use depends on Korea’s Digital Asset Basic Act, which the government wants to move forward by the end of 2026. No dates have been set.
