RIP Caryle Murphy, who reported from inside occupied Kuwait in 1990, hiding from Iraqi troops. She would roll a typewritten story into a tube, dress as a jogger, run past an embassy and throw the tube over the wall to get the story out. @amcovarrubias washingtonpost.com/obituarie…

The total amount spent by Rs on trans-themed ads in 2024 was around $215 million. By next month I bet that much has been spent on trans-themed ads in Texas alone. xitter.cf/caseyparks/status/1853…
In NC-11, GOP nominee Jennifer Balkcom is airing an almost entirely AI-generated ad hitting opponent Jamie Ager for hosting drag performers at his farm in 2019. No AI disclaimers on the ad, which features fake footage of Ager dancing with a drag queen.

I just learned Danny Saenz died earlier this week. May his memory be a blessing.
Disabled Texans stage a protest in the Texas capitol rotunda to call for a pay raise for community attendants who care for them in their home. Danny Saenz, 59, shown foreground, says the current salary of $8 an hour is too low to keep qualified attendants.

I know a couple people who just burned out under the weight of being The Disability Reporter and left journalism. Technically I should think of other journalists covering disability as competition, but really we’re working on different parts of the same group project.

I *want* it to be a group project. I want people with different perspectives and political opinions. I want people to be able to take time off work or get sick or even leave and go do something else without it being a big deal.

Is AOC the first potential 2028er to discuss Neurodivergence and #Neurodiversity? I know Tim Walz has talked about it with his son (I interviewed him about it in my next book) and Tina Smith has. She and Zohran Mamdani met with #ActuallyAutistic students in New York in Sept.
As a neurodivergent person I want to thank AOC for seeing us. We love you!

Three years ago, Maria Alejandra Valero Brinez experienced a stillbirth when she was 8 months pregnant. Now, she is 5 months pregnant and has been detained since August. She says she is having abnormal bleeding and not getting medical care she needs. 19thnews.org/2026/10/woman-p…

We sought comment from you before publication. You didn't respond. A tweet almost 24 hours later is not a comment answering our questions.
The @nytimes article by @apoorva_nyc still says HHS “did not provide a comment.” We sent @SecKennedy’s response more than 24 hours ago and asked them to update the story. They haven’t. Readers deserve the full story. Here’s the response the Times has yet to include.

this is my bi-annual reminder to congressional campaigns: If you don't put your press email on your website and I'm not on your distribution list, the request for comment is going to your info@ email. So either check that inbox or put your press email on the website.
