Anyone who talks about autism like it’s a tragedy or an affliction should spend time with a child happy to stand indefinitely at the shoreline on a calm autumn evening in a perfect state of presence and connection to their surroundings

I’m happy my tax money is used to provide financial support to those who are too unwell to work. I’m also more than happy to pay taxes on the premise that if I’m one of the unlucky ones who can’t work due to ill health I will be financially supported
It’s called civilisation

Scéal dearfach inniu gur fhógair an Aire Oideachais Norma Foley go bhfuil an Roinn Oideachais ag cur dlús le plean a ullmhú chun Gaelcholáiste nó Gaelcholáistí nua a thógáil i ndeisceart Bhaile Átha Cliath. 1/2

I’ve just seen a mental health professional tweet that severe mental illness ‘doesn’t exist’ in a week when we have seen the absolute tragedy that mental illness can lead to for victims, families, and the patient themselves.
Health privilege truly is blind.

Is in ómós do Rónán Mac Aodha Bhuí agus Breandán Ó Doibhlin atá eagrán na míosa seo de @IrisComhar. Tá an iris lán alt le scríbhneoirí breátha, agus tá mé sásta a rá go bhfuil cúpla focal uaim féin ina measc.

Most of Irelands ancient woodland sites that survived into this century were cleared and planted in commercial non native conifers. We are left with a shadow of what we had. It is time that this was acknowledged as a mistake and these sites are restored.

Collaborative, transparent and open discussion of diagnosis and treatment is key. Absence of diagnosis ➡️ treatment of individual symptoms ➡️ poly prescribing ➡️ increased adverse effects ➡️ poor outcomes.

Today we welcome positive news that those with severe mental illness are now included in priority groups for Covid-19 vaccine allocation. This represents a much-needed move towards parity of esteem for some of the most vulnerable, and often forgotten, in our society.

Omg people replying to my Mamma Mia style movie pitch are so annoying. Unless you have something positive to say, don’t respond. It was a lighthearted suggestion yet people want to bring up the Magdalene laundries, how the plot wouldn’t work and “better” ideas. Tá tuirse orm.

It took 16 years to get precious Eoghan to Leaving Cert. Years of painful medical interventions, interminable waiting lists, major spinal surgery - through all he smiles. Can you please Re Tweet the Hell out of this in an appeal for Leadership on #specialneeds & #LeavingCert2021
