When I watched the interview with Toluwani's family, I realised that their actions might not necessarily be coming from a place of love for Toluwani, but from a place of resentment. They seem to feel that Toluwani should have done more for them while he was alive, and perhaps they are Bter because they believe his wife was the only one who enjoyed the benefits of having him in her life. In my opinion, their insistence that he should be buried in the family house may be influenced by this bitterness. If they had enjoyed a good relationship with him, and he had been there for them in different ways while he was alive, I wonder if things would have turned out this way. It appears that they are unhappy with the idea that his wife was the one who enjoyed what they believe should have been shared among the entire family. Of course, only they know their true intentions, but that is how the situation comes across to me. Another thing I want to say is that marrying a man who is the breadwinner of his family is not for the faint hearted. A woman who chooses that path must also be hardworking, financially conscious, and prepared for the realities that may come with it. It anything happens to that man, or even betore anything happens to him, you may find yourself dealing with family expectations and responsibilities you never bargained for. Sometimes, you may even find yourself wishing you had never married into that family. It is not that marrying a breadwinner is automatically a bad decision, but when you marry into a family where people feel entitled to everything the man has, the marriage can become a difficult journey for the woman. May God give every woman the wisdom to understand the family she is marrying into, because love alone may not be enough to navigate such a situation.
