Soham Dance Space

Soham celebrates Parijat Desai, as our inaugural artist-in-residence! After countless conversations, we are overjoyed to finally bring her programs to life in Chicago! Parijat is a luminous South Asian artist who has been fearlessly making work for over 22 years!

Join this convo on the need for artist-presenter models that actually affirm the complexities within our work and identities. Soham’s AiR pilot is one experiment in an ongoing endeavor by artists of the global majority to be seen on their own terms. 8/30, 7p CT on zoom!

Sometimes it feels empty. Sometimes it sparks a fire. Thinking about oppression across caste n gender, n the privileged n marginalized identities that weave in n out of our bodies, we attempt an embodied resistance. 6/24, at Mandala Makers Festival. @mandalaartschi @chicagoparks

We’re celebrating Parijat Desai n Alyssa Gregory through new pilot programs! Centering South Asian and Black dance artists, Soham experiments with new models for artist-producer relationships. Each program receives $10k and prioritizes deep, nuanced engagement with the artists.
