Fact: Israeli electorate returned Netanyahu's Likud as the largest single party in the Knesset. One can therefore surmise that this fact shows that the Israeli electorate is totally comfortable with the ongoing genocide in Gaza as well as the expropriations and violence of the Israeli settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Yesterday, CCLA joined the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) and other groups at a press conference responding to the Quebec government’s plan to ban religious symbols for elementary school students. Our Quebec Spokesperson and Director of Fundamental Freedoms, Anaïs Bussières McNicoll, had a clear message for the government: “A 10-year-old girl should have the right to go to school. Period.” For more than seven years, Bills 21, 94 and 9 have pushed people out of public life because of their religion, with a disproportionate impact on Muslim women. Workers have lost their jobs, students have changed their career plans, and some parents can no longer volunteer at their children’s schools. Now the government wants to expand the ban to children in schools. Quebec’s school principals’ associations have said religious symbols are not an issue in schools and have warned that students could drop out. The government’s move is a solution in search of a problem, and it puts children’s fundamental right to education at risk. We are far from alone in this fight. Hundreds of civil society groups are mobilizing through the recently launched Coalition Against the Instrumentalization of Secularism in Quebec. Our work has only just begun, and we will continue to fight these discriminatory laws until everyone in Quebec can learn, work and take part in public life without having to choose between their personal faith and their rights. WORKERS DO NOT WORK FOR WAR Worker-led organizing is the only thing that can get us out of the genocide-laden economies that world leaders seem to be obsessed with protecting.
International dockworkers launch historic global strike across 100 ports to blockade arms shipments —— Dockworkers spanning more than 100 strategic ports across Europe, West Asia, and North Africa initiated a mass international strike and day of mobilization to halt arms transfers. Organized by a coalition of over 25 maritime labor unions in 22 countries—including primary labor syndicates in France, Italy, Greece, Spain, Turkiye, and Morocco—the coordinated action targets key maritime infrastructure to block the movement of weapons, ammunition, and military cargo. The strike action has halted or severely disrupted logistics operations across major European and Mediterranean transit hubs, including Marseille, Le Havre, Genoa, Trieste, and Piraeus. In a joint declaration released by participating unions, including France’s CGT ports federation, Italy’s Unione Sindacale di Base (USB), and Greece’s ENEDEP, labor leaders condemned the conversion of commercial ports into hubs for imperialist war machine logistics. ENEDEP President Markos Bekris declared during demonstrations at the Port of Piraeus: "Ports must not be used for the transport of weapons, ammunition, military equipment and troops. Dockworkers do not work for war!" Endorsed by 17 Palestinian trade unions and the international Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, the historic mobilization marks an unprecedented labor blockade aimed at choking off military supply lines. With over 90 percent of Israeli international trade and military procurement moving by sea, union organizers emphasized that organized labor is taking direct action to enforce international law and humanitarian embargoes where western governments have actively refused to halt the arming of Israel.

Huge congratulations to workers across Canada who overwhelmingly voted to mandate the Canadian Labour Congress to “declare trade, services, and relationships with Israel to be ‘hot cargo’ and to cut ties with the Histadrut.” This is a clear message: Canadian labourers refuse to be complicit in Israel’s genocide in Gaza and the expansion of illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank. Bravo to @PalestineLabour!

a reminder that Israel is not a real country. It doesn't have declared borders. It doesn't have a constitution. Its population does not have family roots in the land prior to the modern advent of zionism. They don't have a native culture, native food, dance, or stories. Israel is literally the greatest heist of the 20th century that expelled an ancient society and turned their land into a jewish supremacist military outpost murdering its way through time, and constantly cobbling together new stories about itself to suit the latest political whims, while destroying everything that threatens their latest flimsy narrative. God and the Bible have nothing to do with this abominable entity. They're not "chosen." They're not "a light." They're the biggest and most dangerous charlatans the world has ever known. That was not a democratic election. It was another act in this absurd theatre we're all forced to endure.

This is incredible - no port anywhere should be doing business with a genocidal entity. Palestinian children are being murdered everyday while leaders bankroll weapons manufacturers. cc: @MarkJCarney @PremierScottMoe @fordnation

I can hardly imagine anyone who hasn’t seen this photograph. But it was taken on this day in 2000. I cannot believe the photo is 26 years old now. The boy in the photograph was Fares Odeh. He was just 14 years old. Ten days after this image was captured, Fares went out again to throw stones at Israeli tanks, seeking to avenge the killing of his 17-year-old cousin. An Israeli sniper shot him in the neck, killing him. And there is another chilling detail to this photograph. The photo changed Israeli tank doctrine. In August 2001, The Jerusalem Post quoted an anonymous tank doctrinist saying tank personnel were now instructed to fire upon rock-throwers.

As the tide turns globally, I see the effort to pin the blame solely on Netanyahu. The strategy is to resurrect Israel's image in the process of toppling him. But genocide is not a one-man show; the whole system is culpable. Zionism must be abolished. There is no going back.

I’ll be looking today to see if media outlets point out that millions of Palestinians, living under Israeli military rule in the occupied West Bank, have no right to vote. Yet, Israeli settlers, living in settlements in the West Bank, are considered Israeli citizens and can vote.
