Uhh..
Is WoW Twitter just AI / LARPing accounts now?
Why is everybody all of a sudden an expert on all things WoW Forever π
With World of Warcraft: Forever launching November 4th, I have some genuine concerns about the direction of Warrior design. (Yes this is me going full nerd on the TL, deal with it.. IT'S MORE SERIOUS THAN YOU KNOW.)
Iβve played Warrior for the better part of my WoW career, particularly at a competitive level in PvP, and I genuinely struggle to understand the design philosophy behind some of the changes weβre seeing.
To be clear, this has nothing to do with the recent level 30 beta duel tournament. That event was fun, and individual results at that level donβt determine whether the class has a strong long-term design. My concerns are based on what we can see on paper: the tools, mechanics, and identity currently being given to Warrior.
While other classes are receiving interesting new mechanics, utility, and ways to express their class identity, Warrior feels like itβs been left dead behind.
Much of the attention has seemingly gone toward normalizing Rage generation, adjusting passive talents, and numerical tuning rather than giving the class meaningful new ways to play.
And while some of these changes are absolutely welcome, I canβt help but feel that the class is becoming increasingly bland.
My biggest concern is PvP. (Though PvE rotation for Arms is non-existent and Slam feels very underwhelming)
Warrior has historically been a class that relies heavily on positioning, resource management, support, and intelligent use of its relatively limited toolkit. Thatβs part of its charm. But when other classes receive additional tools and flexibility, while Warriorβs fundamental limitations remain largely unchanged, that disparity becomes increasingly concerning.
Thereβs also very little that feels genuinely new for Arms, either rotationally or from a utility perspective. The specialization doesnβt appear to have received meaningful new decisions to make, new ways to create pressure, or new tools that expand its role in PvP.
And Spearing Strike is a particularly disappointing example. It feels awkward, underwhelming, and lacking a clear purpose. Rather than adding an exciting new weapon-based mechanic or creating an interesting interaction, it comes across as a weak addition that doesnβt meaningfully improve the Arms experience.
Where are the new opportunities for skill expression? The creative utility? The meaningful counterplay? The tools that make an experienced Warrior feel genuinely different from an inexperienced one?
Iβve spoken about this before, but Iβd LOVE to see Arms embrace the identity of a true master of weapons. A calculated, disciplined fighter who excels through weapon mastery, stance dancing, tactical utility, and well-timed offensive windows.
Thereβs so much design space to explore here. Armor-breaking mechanics, momentum-based abilities, meaningful weapon interactions, or additional defensive counterplay.
Fury can lean into relentless aggression. Protection into its defensive identity / tanking capabilities. And Arms into being the versatile, calculated PvP specialist.
None of this requires turning Classic WoW into Retail or introducing unnecessary complexity.
Iβm not asking for Warrior to be overpowered. Iβm asking for Warrior to be interesting.
A class can be numerically competitive and still feel uninspired. And I worry that simply adjusting damage coefficients and Rage generation wonβt address that.
I absolutely LOVE what WoW Forever is trying to accomplish, and I want this game to succeed. Some of my favorite moments in WoW have come from pushing Warrior to its absolute limits in competitive PvP.
I just hope we see a bit more ambition and creativity with the class before launch. βοΈ @AggrendWoW @Zirene ππΌπ₯
