Q: Recently, you moved to a new agency, and there were new changes in your working environment. How has this change in environment musically or personally influenced the process of planning and completing this album?
Kyungsoo:
First of all, I'm extremely satisfied. Actually, as for my solo albums, my personal opinions were really important in all the albums I've done until now. Of course, they are still important now, but working with a new agency this time, I received a tremendous amount of help with things like concepts in areas I couldn't have thought of on my own. So I think an even greater synergy was created. This album feels like a new challenge, and thanks to the help I received from those around me, I think I gained the courage to take on this kind of challenge, so I am currently working with a lot of satisfaction.

Q: has your standard of happiness changed compared to before?
Kyungsoo: it’s the same then & now. I think being mentally healthy is what happiness is. We’re human, so of course we get stressed, but how quickly we can shake it off is what matters most. +

Q: You’re said to be unshaken by outside opinions. What’s the source of that strength?
Kyungsoo: my mindset is ‘let’s not take things too sensitively.’ The more sensitive i got, the harder it was on myself, so i try to stay easygoing.

Q: What’s your biggest strength as a vocalist?
Kyungsoo: it’s a bit awkward to say this myself, but what i aim for is singing like i’m talking, so people can listen comfortably. In the group i couldn’t fully do that, but through solo work i’ve expressed a lot of what i wanted to.

Question: When listening to Do Kyung-soo's music, there are times when you feel that it goes beyond the praise of "he sings well" and naturally draws you into the emotion of the song at some point. What do you think is your greatest vocal strength, and conversely, what kind of vocal charm do you want to show more of in the future?
Answer: It's a bit embarrassing to say this myself (laughs), but the part I consider my strength and pursue is 'singing like speaking' so that listeners can listen comfortably. I've thought a lot since early on about how important it is to have no jarring sounds when listening to a song, and to feel as if you're just listening to someone tell a story. However, during group activities, there were performances and the dance intensity was high, so I couldn't fully do that, but while doing solo activities, I did a lot of the expressions I wanted to do. Since I've been doing this consistently for a long time, I think it might be my own strength to be able to express that part a bit better now.
And the feeling I want to show more of in the future is a vibe that is the opposite of when I did group activities, or songs with a character that I don't really have. For example, I like genres like sticky and sexy R&B or jazz. But if KAI dances, isn't it too sexy? If I think about doing it slightly like that, it probably won't be very sexy, so I don't have the courage yet.

Q. You have been active for quite a long time across two fields, as a singer and an actor. As more time passes, when people think of Doh Kyungsoo, what kind of 'artist' do you want to be remembered as?
Kyungsoo:
I want to remain as 'someone who gave a lot of positive energy to the public.' If people listen to my music and feel, 'Ah, this person's songs are truly happy,' or watch my acting and feel, 'This person's work has such a good message,' I think just that alone is success.
Rather than being remembered as someone exceptionally standing out and special in a specific field, I would love it if I remain as 'someone who is genuinely wonderfully ordinary, like a comfortable friend right beside you,' and 'someone whose energy was always positive.'
