Unquestionably true. But not new. Worth a read, Dostoevsky's "The Grand Inquisitor". A standalone chapter in The Brother's Karamazov. It describes exactly this, but during the Spanish Inquisition of 1478. Jesus comes back, they tell him, "We don't need you anymore".

i think programming gives you a (wrong) intuition that the universe is happy to enforce arbitrarily complex rules, like the ones you set in your program but this doesn't carry over. legal code, for example, is not executed very faithfully at all. only when a given party has enough of an incentive will they bring it to court & make the universe "run the code" so to speak people file taxes wrong, break financial regulations, break driving laws, deliver on contracts differently than the contract specifies, etc. all the time. it's not a problem until someone makes it one (because they were personally hurt, or because they're a prosecutor who foresees political gain from taking a case)

The most heartbreaking realization as a human being is that no one in the entire world gives a fuck about you. And the worst part of this is that this realization usually comes to you at the lowest moment in your life when you desperately need someone to give a fuck. Some people, if they are extremely lucky, will have parents who love them no matter what. And if you've got a luck combo, then at least one of your kids will truly care about you. Stay close to your family if you can.

The US's success is not due to robber barons, it's because a good chunk of the massive military budget is the DoD acting as a giant incubator not just for tech, but for entire industries.

The zero-interest-rate era is going to become lost history because people want to make up a narrative around AI. The white collar bloodbath didn't happen because of a chat app release, it happened because of the end of ZIRP which occurred rapidly in 2022.

If guidelines are changed to no Tylenol in pregnancy, conscientious people will follow them! And then Tylenol will be correlated with all kinds of bad life outcomes like drug addiction and prison time and lower income and aids but it will all be healthy user bias.

all of San Francisco is banned from using the word “autist,” YC is banned from using the word “autist.” i’m going woke. autists do not go to “kiwi eating parties.” this is a normie nerd quirk chungus event. autists are these peoples’ slaves and they are kept out of sight.
San Francisco is like a giant adult preschool for well-meaning autists with a childlike whimsy who happen to be building the technocapital Antichrist it’s honestly extremely amusing

It’s bizarre to see any Americans wish for a civil war. Americans are very sheltered. Living in a war zone isn’t for the weak. Those same people almost went crazy during the quarantine where they could still access just about everything they needed or wanted.
They were really ready to start a Civil War until they found out the shooter was white. So now, the Civil War is cancelled until the next thing they can magnify into a declaration of war against them smh

As I sit back and observe, I genuinely think that, at some level, those who wish to dominate and control us don’t actually care what we believe about the Charlie Kirk situation—or any situation, for that matter. What matters to them is that we’re flooding these platforms with conflicting information the reaffirms our own biases, we’re at each other’s throats, we’re blaming everyone outside of ourselves, we’re failing to take responsibility for our own lives, we’re attacking and demonizing each other, we’re overlooking empathy, compassion and forgiveness, and we’re obsessively glued to our devices while doing it. They don’t have to do much anymore. They set the algorithm, they initiate an event, and we do their bidding for them. We are dividing and conquering ourselves now. It’s too easy.

Someone is trying to radicalize us. And yes they’re trying to radicalize both sides against each other. And it’s working. And there doesn’t seem to be any way to stop it other than turning off your phone and your tv (if you still have one), and going outside to hang out with real flesh and blood people. They keep feeding us the most horrible versions of each other. The algorithms are. But who makes the algos? Who REALLY benefits from us being at each other’s throats? If you let the algos convince you the other side is evil then you have been psyopped. Yes, there are evil people, but most people are not. We’re letting ourselves be defined by the absolute worst examples at the extremes. That’s what they keep showing us on every news channel and every social media feed. The worst of the worst. It’s all designed to foment us into anger and self destruction. I don’t know why exactly—could be as simple as divide and conquer. It probably is. Don’t swallow the psyop.

These days, “I’m not a political person” means “I’m not plugged into a network that translates every event immediately into partisan or ideological talking points”, and it’s the better way to go
“I’m not a political person” ok then go back to your room and let the grown ups talk

Cognitive security reminder: a huge amount of what you see on socials is not real & originated in an info ops farm overseas. A huge amount of what *is* real on socials is nevertheless a 2nd or 3rd order effect of that fact, and it's on us to break that ratchet

I don’t know who needs to hear this but, people with immense power and influence are attempting to destroy this country from the inside by creating division, chaos, and confusion. Stop falling for it.

They had the Epstein vote on the same day as the Charlie Kirk assassination. The vote was 51-49, with almost all Republicans voting to stop the release and all Democrats voting to move forward. Two Republicans, Josh Hawley and Rand Paul, sided with the Democrats.

These so-called “influencers” are trying to influence us into a war with each other. See this for what it is.
There is absolutely NOTHING organic about the response to Charlie Kirk’s death. Almost immediately we are seeing swarms of “influencers” and “leaders” coming out with the same message: THIS IS WAR. Account after account calling for people to be fired, censored, or worse. This is not the solution. Don’t let yourself be manipulated into supporting the erosion of rights or the hateful division that has become a defining characteristic of our country. There is no right versus left. There is only the people versus the ruling class. There is only class war, if there is to be any. Despite what is being shoved down your throat 24/7, your neighbor is not your enemy. They are human. They have struggles. They are propagandized. And they CANNOT change your material conditions. As Americans, we still have a choice to unite or to further divide. We still have a chance. BE A UNIFIER.
