Hot off the presses! Exact hierarchical N-body solutions published at Physics Open - breakthrough results in classical mechanics!

Why electroweak symmetry breaking occurs as it does remains unresolved. My new Physics Letters B paper explores RBEWS as an alternative that may solve the scale hierarchy and SM metastability problems. A new way to think about the Higgs particle!

New in Physics Letters B: gravity beyond Einstein's classical picture. Spacetime is not fundamental; it emerges as a quantum gravitational condensate, with GR derived and unified with the Standard Model via USMEG-EFT.

Storm Eowyn is now developing a hook shape associated with sting jets and their devastating high winds. Increasing frequency of these storms is consistent with climate change. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

Replying to @ed_hawkins
The extreme weather events we are experiencing now at 1.5 degrees of warming are already terrifying. I don't think that most members of the public realise that now is the least extreme climate they will experience in their lifetimes. We will definitely regret our inaction.

Our new paper develops pioneering global-scale Regional Frequency Analysis for extreme precipitation to reveal how GEV parameters change across climates and data durations (1h, 3h, 6h, 24h, and daily). This marks the first-ever near-global-scale RFA.

Unfortunately I think we still see many more storms like Beryl in our lifetimes, even this year. The world's oceans are at record warm temperatures. Atmospheric warming energises storms and allows them to carry more moisture with more intense winds. When will we need a Cat 6?
It cannot be underscored how historic of a situation this is. To have a major hurricane east of the Lesser Antilles in June is a feat no season, not even 1933 or 2005, accomplished.
We will probably not see another storm like #Beryl in our lifetimes.
