Can we PLEASE just end the time change already? This weekend, millions of us will change our clocks AGAIN. Parents hate it. Kids’ sleep gets wrecked. Schedules get thrown off. Almost everyone I know wants it gone. And yet somehow… every year we keep doing it. Who exactly is fighting to keep this?

No, Daylight Saving Time chronically deprives sleep, which decreases productivity and earnings. Amend to permanent Standard Time, for economy and health!
America wants permanent daylight saving time. My bipartisan Sunshine Protection Act passed the House to deliver that for our families, small businesses and our health. It’s time to lock the clock.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Studies show the opposite of what Congressman Buchanan claims. DST reduces sleep duration and quality. That reduces productivity and wages. And it harms both mental and physical health. Permanent DST would increase these harms. Permanent Standard Time instead is best. econpapers.repec.org/paper/wilwilec… aasm.org/aasm-opposes-s… sciencedirect.com/science/articl… thensf.org/wp-content/upl…

Oh @Jira any hope of ever fixing jira.atlassian.com/browse/JR… ? It disproportionately hurts people who have other Jira accounts who can’t contribute to our open source (Thank you!) Jira cloud.

the symptom is: people are logged in with atlassian but told they have no permission to create issues. it affects people already on a Jira team (likely customers.) if someone is NOT on a Jira team anywhere else, they are automatically allowed, just as it's been before this bug.

STOP trying to put America on permanent jet lag. Permanent DST means: darker winter mornings children waiting for school buses in darkness worse circadian disruption less natural morning light The human body runs on SUN time — not shopping time. End the clock changes if you want. But permanent STANDARD time is the biologically healthy option. Nature already created “daylight savings.” It’s called summer. Dear @SenateGOP @SenateDems @SenateFloor : please reject permanent DST.

Stop changing clocks = GOOD. Permanent Daylight Saving time = BAD. It was tried in 1974 as an experiment and was so unpopular Congress cancelled the experiment before it was over. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Permanent Standard Time (my HB119) is the healthier, more geographically appropriate choice. And it's already federally approved. @SaveStandard @SupportStandard

Our bodies align to the sun. Standard Time aligns better, while Daylight Saving Time is an hour too fast. Ditch DST and Save Standard Time, for less stress and greater health!

If setting clocks an hour fast saves 2% energy, “we could save 24% by advancing clocks 12 hours.” Californians criticized “knuckleheads in Congress” for dark, dangerous mornings under permanent Daylight Saving Time in 1974.

Maven Central seems flaky? repo.maven.apache.org/maven2… returns 1 byte instead of 13k? Can't find any substantiation. #mavencentral @ASFMavenProject

Hi @Jira — users who already have another Jira instance can’t automatically post on our Jira cloud open source instance, making it useless due to jira.atlassian.com/browse/JR… — any chance this could get some attention?

Is Google basically deprecating TOTP? I asked because every time I use it, I get an email congratulating me for successfully recovering my account, and it now takes a couple clicks to get to TOTP as an option.

We’re deeply saddened to mark the passing of Mikeal Rogers after a courageous fight with cancer. Mikeal wasn’t just a leader in the open source world. He was a connector, a builder of community, and someone who showed up for others in meaningful ways. If you have a memory, we’d love to hear it. Let’s honor the way he brought people together. Rest well, Mikeal. You’re deeply missed. 💚 hubs.la/Q03s_C7G0

Little footnote on @github actions ternary: docs.github.com/en/actions/w… Basically ${{ action == 'push' && '' || '--not-push' }} always falls through to --not-push!

Anyone else just love how several times a year, some standing meetings shift around and others don’t? Okay—me neither. We should have permanent standard time everywhere, globally. It’s the only correct option.

Kids were asking about the Int’l date line on the world map. Explained about time zones and going east/west and clock changes. Noon is about when the sun is overhead. Sun moves 360°/24=15°/hr. But “daylight savings” ruins this explanation, for zero good reason. #endDST

Replying to @NateSilver538
No. Permanent DST is permanent sleep deprivation, which means more accidents, illnesses, absences, and deaths. #DitchDST and restore permanent Standard Time.

FYI: HTTP Cookies SameSite=Strict means no cookies on redirect, need Lax. nogginbox.co.uk/blog/strict-… Web standards are literally “how we have nice things” — but where even is SameSite spec’ed? Not in RFC 6265.
