The concern is that a major conflict could cripple power grids, disrupt supply chains and damage critical infrastructure across the US.
US military has already announced plans to reduce major bases’ dependence on civilian power grids. The bases could use portable nuclear reactors, large battery storage and microgrids to disconnect from the civilian grid and keep operating during prolonged power outages.
