These are mostly profits from BP's oil trading division, and aren't subject to the windfall tax (which applies to North Sea extraction only).
It would be completely wrong for a Government to stand by and allow companies to make excess profits from a war.
That’s why we’re taxing these windfall profits to help with the cost of living.
And why the Tories, Reform and the SNP are utterly wrong to oppose the windfall tax.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The UK's Energy Profits Levy taxes only profits from UK oil and gas extraction, not BP's overseas oil trading profits that primarily drove the recent increase. bbc.com/news/articles/… gov.uk/government/pub…

“Labour would freeze your council tax”
“Not a penny more on your council tax”
“No ifs, no buts”
With all the elections now going ahead, make sure to share this huge Labour lie before the local elections.
You can’t believe anything Keir Starmer says.

As a woman, it’s scary to admit, but the legal system really is set up to break men.
A man can work himself into the ground for decades to provide, yet if the marriage fails, he loses the house, the kids, and his assets. We call them 'insecure' for hesitating, but sometimes they are afraid of being liquidated by the person they trusted the most.

The clubs Q2 24/25 financial results are out and as suspected. It’s grim reading.
1Billion paid to service debt repayments.
700m+ outstanding Glazer debt.
300m+ owed on transfers.
Surely this debt is the elephant in the room at board level?
Our club is financially spiralling into the abyss due to crippling debt repayments and 20 years of mismanagement.
We all know what the root cause of this. We have always known. Nothing has changed.
Governing and ruling bodies have been complicit and have failed us.
This financial burden not only limits our ability to invest in the squad, infrastructure, and community but also risk undermining the values and ambitions that define us.
Our commitment, since we started was to remove the Glazers and ensuring the future of the club remains bright and secure. This will never change.
Punishing fans who can least afford it with ticket price increases is not the answer.
The answer is the Glazers need to go!
YOUR DEBT NOT OURS!

When Erik Ten Hag came in he made it a priority to get the youth teams playing the style of play he’s trying to implement in the first team!
The U18s are following instructions and blowing teams away!
Only lost a single game all season and playing beautiful football!
The great thing about youth is they’re hungry to learn and not full of ego or on ridiculous wages so they soak it up like a sponge!
It’s a shame our first team isn’t like that!

Sack Ten Hag, hire a new manager, get the new manager bounce, get new contracts, down tools again, sack new manager, rinse & repeat, while same players continue to stay. 🤷♂️

Good of MUFC to open up Old Trafford as warm hub again this winter. Anyone can go to the Red Cafe on a Monday (starting 4th Dec) 5-8pm to stay warm, talk to others, enjoy complimentary drinks and snacks. You don't need to be lonely.

#MUFC don't need a new manager. They need new owners. They need Glazers out, Ratcliffe buying club fully, a proper structure with sporting director, footballing identity re-established, dead wood out of squad & stronger characters in. Give Ten Hag a chance. Rinse/repeat pointless

So in the last 10 seasons we’ve had 9 managers Fergie, Moyes, Giggs, LVG, Jose, Ole, Carrick, Rangnick and Ten Hag.
Now we have some pundits and fans saying we need to sack another manager to make it 10 managers in 10 seasons? 🤣🤣🤣
Keep the manager sack the board
