Cluster munitions are deadly and leave long-lasting socio-economical effects on communities.
Since they have hundreds of sub-munitions, they are generally free-falling, and incorrect use, wind, and other factors can cause them to strike well outside the intended target area.

"It's dehumanising, it's unethical and the decision to take life should not be delegated to a machine. So we hope that states start to talk more about it...and advocate for a prohibition on #AutonomousWeapons systems that target human beings."

In this video, we reflect on 2024.
Over the year, we have been working round the clock supporting those affected by armed conflict, recognizing their challenges.
Moving forward, our commitment to stand by them remains strong & we will continue supporting with the same dedication.

Azerbaijani officials have confirmed to Euronews that a Russian surface to air missile downed Azerbaijan Airlines Flight 8432.
A Pantsir SAM reportedly hit Flight 8432 over Grozny, with Russian ATC refusing to allow the damaged aircraft to immediately land.
Ten years after the flight MH17 was destroyed by a Russian BUK missile over Eastern Ukraine, killing 298 people, all the evidence so far points to a similar scenario: a civilian plane was hit today by a Russian air defence missile over Grozny. This needs to be investigated ASAP.
❗️/1. Russian air defense most likely caused the crash of an Embraer 190 passenger plane during UAV attack on Chechnya:
An Embraer 190 passenger plane belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines crashed this morning. 67 passengers of which 5 crew members were on board. 32 people survived the crash. All survivors were in the tail section of the plane. 🧵

👇🏻 Update on ISP services outage:
The OWG team expectation is that service should be restored on 18Dec. This prediction is based on the communication with our ISP provider.
In parallel we are finalising the provisioning of new ISP services in Amsterdam and Dublin 🧵
