Bizarre. But maybe this could be the start of a viable, middle-of-the-road third party?
The Democratic Senate nominees in deep-red states withdrew from the ballot after their primaries, clearing the field for independent candidates.
But this strategy failed where Democrats thought it had the best chance of working: Montana. wapo.st/45ubOBW

Americans always blame the party in power for inflation. Harding and the Republicans thumped the Democrats in 1920 because on what the papers called H.C.L., the high cost of living. Trump and Republicans will go down on this issue.

BREAKING:
WASHINGTON (AP) - The U.S. economy grew at an unexpectedly sluggish 1.5% pace from April through June.
NY Times correctly notes the AI infrastructure boom matches the New Deal, the Manhattan Project and the railroad build in its scope. Difference is it’s being privately financed. AI companies are so big they don’t need Uncle Sam and the attached strings.
Coolidge cracked down on immigration from Italy in 1924. We can’t let in everybody. Half of humanity would move here if they could. But I shudder to think about life without pizza.
🚨 JUST IN: PANIC is erupting among Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio as Temporary Protected Status has expired and an ICE surge is IMMINENT
LFG 🔥🔥
"Hundreds of thousands of migrants, including several thousand here locally, are questioning what comes next in their legal U.S. status. The temporary protection status expired on Monday and it affected the Haitian community here in Springfield."

"Temporary" under the law was supposed to mean until the conditions in the country which led to a TPS grant have improved. In this case, the conditions are the post-2021 collapse of Haiti's government following the presidential assassination; conditions which have NOT improved.

In the final days of the 1928 election, a desperate Herbert Hoover tried the Communist thing. He lost in the biggest landslide since George Washington. Communism is a loser issue. Republicans need to focus on the pocket book issues that people care about.
🚨 KAROLINE LEAVITT JUST SAID IT PERFECTLY:
"The Democrat Party has totally capitulated to the communists within their ranks. Communism has NEVER worked and it's VERY scary that a major political party in this country, the Democrat Party, is being controlled by communists!"
"And their only real answer to any problem is to just take more from the individuals who make that country great and give it to the government."
"You know, it sounds great to have free food, free healthcare, free rent, but who's paying for all of that? We are."
Can’t wait to see the unintended consequences of Trump’s tariffs. In the 1920s, Brazil imported a lot of American cars. Then Smoot Hawley inadvertently launched the Brazilian automotive industry and took jobs from Detroit.
Trump promised a manufacturing boom.
Instead, we've lost 75,000 jobs and $60 billion in annual factory construction since he took office.

Trump doesn’t know the Third Law of Motion and how every action provokes an equal and opposite reaction. He should heed the lessons of the Swiss boycott of 1930 when the Alpine nation, spurred by watchmaker fury over Hoover’s tariffs, stopped buying American cars.

The irony is Trump made it on crypto and not a legitimate business. There’s consistency in that.
Trump's $4 billion Presidential windfall is unprecedented in scale & source.
Obama's wealth grew from royalties on books written before office — and Bush's mostly from a sports‑team stake from over a decade prior.
Most of Trump's new billions are from deals made in office.
Time was when Republicans didn’t need to cheat to win elections. They only had to deliver economic growth. Between Lincoln and Hoover, Republicans won 14 of 18 elections by getting out of the way and letting the free market work its magic.

Trump Accounts are a nice idea but how long before beneficiaries demand early withdrawals? Reminds of 1932 Bonus March when WW1 vets demanded - and got in 1936 - immediate payment of old-age pensions.
