Brazilian politics is certainly entertaining, I’ll give them that 🍿

Jensen reveals he first met the Founder of TSMC by cold calling their number off Yellow Pages "I heard about this company in Taiwan, TSMC and UMC at the time. They were of course quite poor companies themselves, and they were barely making it." "TSMC was probably about $300 million, something like that. It's a tiny little company. I heard about Morris Chang. And so I tried to call their US office." "Back in the old days there were yellow pages. I looked it up, TSMC. There's a number there. I called their number and it's a recording. I left my name and my number and said a few things about NVIDIA: we're a new startup company building computer graphics chips. I called several times. Nobody called me back." "And so I finally wrote a letter to Morris Chang. Didn't hear anything for a long time, and then one day it was 6 o'clock or something, this person called and said 'this is Morris Chang from TSMC.'" "And meanwhile, everybody outside my office was playing video games and they're all laughing and screaming. 'Hey shut up! It's Morris!' I was so happy that the founder would actually call us back, because hey, maybe we won't have to die." "And so we talked and he invited me to Taiwan. I came back to Taiwan, and that was the start of everything. Not just that partnership, but just the whole industry."

Great to finally see the long cut of the Jensen food tour. Taiwan night markets really are that good 😍πŸ₯Ÿ
I've been traveling the world a bit. One of the most incredible experiences was getting to visit Taiwan w/ @JensenHuang. It was wild 🀯.. huge crowds of engineers, insanely good street food at night markets, and of course a lot of good conversations across many days. I caught some of it on video, see below. Alright, that's it from me, love you all ❀️ Timestamps: 0:00 - Highlights 0:46 - Intro 3:25 - Computex: crowds, engineers, tech, future of AI 9:12 - Chat with Jensen: keynote prep & nerves 13:03 - Chat with Jensen: Taiwan's tech history 19:47 - Raohe night market 29:37 - Chat with Jensen: memories from childhood 33:44 - NVIDIA party 40:29 - Lunch: braised pig's feet 43:09 - Chat with Jensen: GPUs, AI, and competition 55:07 - Ningxia night market 1:10:14 - Taiwanese breakfast 1:29:54 - Outro

Spent lots of time last month getting a CPF, bank, and SIM in Brazil and it's mostly a bureaucratic humiliation ritual for foreigners where every step goes wrong, including steps you never knew existed. Across Asia I can generally land, get a SIM with working data in minutes and maybe even open a bank account within an hour. For years you could get a CPF by email, so you'll find countless people telling you online it's quick and easy. That information is now out of date. Here's the truth as of 2026: You used to be able to get the whole thing done at Banco do Brasil or the Correios for R$7. Now they just charge you to fill out and print a form you can do yourself online for free. Bargain. Either way, you then have to take the form to the Receita Federal (RF). You can't just turn up during opening hours either. You won't even get past the security guard. It took two trips before he finally shared the secret: you need to be there at 8am, an hour before they open, because they only issue 15 CPFs per day. 🀯 So on the third trip I at least knew to turn up early. I was 3rd in line and it still took 2 hours, but I did at least get confirmation my CPF would arrive by email within a week. Hard part over. You'd think. Then came the phone number. I tried to buy a Vivo eSIM online, but to buy a Brazilian phone number from their website you need a Brazilian phone number to sign up. Makes sense, why else would you be wanting to buy a phone number from a telco if you didn't already have one. πŸ”πŸ₯š So I figured I'd try going to a store. They tell me they don't sell prepaid SIMs or issue eSIMs, and that I should go buy one at a kiosk. Apple stores also don't sell iPhones anymore I hear. The kiosk sells physical SIMs. Fine. I'll activate it in my old phone, convert it to eSIM and move it to my real phone. I am sure that'll all go smoothly. I figured activation would work at least. Nope. I text my CPF to the activation number and they say it's invalid. Awesome. Of course it is. Why would that work. πŸ€ͺ The store can't activate it either. Apparently it can take ~3 months for a new CPF to propagate through their systems and I need to β€œuse it in other systems” in the meantime, like the supermarket. Five hours of online support later (they do let you AFK at least πŸ™ƒ), they finally activate the SIM using a photo of my passport next to my CPF on my phone. Except because it was activated with my passport, not my CPF, I can't convert it to eSIM or use their app, and they text me every few days threatening to deactivate my line. Wonderful. Then they tell me the SIM can't even receive SMS until I top it up. Makes sense, why make it work like other telcos when you can add random extra steps. So I try to top it up, but their website requires SMS verification to do that, and my phone can't even receive that SMS. One must already have credit to acquire credit. Nice. So I top it up through Ding instead. Why not, we've come this far. I'd have used my Brazil bank but of course I can't get one of those until the number works. Now I finally have a working Brazilian SIM with data, but only in my old phone, and every few days they text me that my CPF is invalid and they're going to deactivate my line. Done? Done. Next the bank. I discover that most banks won't let a foreigner open an account with just a CPF anymore. My friends have all kinds of accounts that you can no longer obtain. You now need additional Brazilian ID that generally only residents and long-term visa holders can obtain. I did eventually manage to open a C6 account and get PIX working, but that account is tied to the same phone number that may randomly self-immolate. So after a week I have a CPF that some systems recognize and some don't, a bank account tied to that number, and a SIM card I can't put in my actual phone. At least I can finally pay for my own Mate πŸ˜‚πŸΉ Welcome to Brazil πŸ‡§πŸ‡·

✨ Finally built a timeline for nomads.com now I always wanted to make my site a bit more social, because I had profiles and trip overlaps and you could kinda see where other people went, but not something like this So on this new page you can see people near you, where everyone's traveling too, etc. There's the [ For you ] tab and [ Following ], like on X. So you can see people you follow, or just everyone I hope I can improve it more so the site will result in more serendipitous connections, especially now that's it's free Also nice you can see where people will be in the future so you can plan trips to places where other members are, or if you're in the FOR YOU tab, where your friends are Let me know any ideas you have and things I should build and I'll do it, I want to make it the biggest and most fun to use nomad/travel site in the world! (Please tell your friends about Nomads.com, that it's free, so you can use it as a social friends travel tracker kinda thing)
🌎 Nomads.com globe is now ready for space travel too 😊

Most client calls are about ego or trust rather than getting shit done, usually to appease someone who should be removed from the process
I'd love to believe in calls but I've never ever had them lead to anything It always feels like I'm doing a social or therapeutical service for the other person to spend their time Many times the calls were for those people to hit quotas in their schedule for their boss Never doing calls!

Infinite slop is surprisingly watchable compared to most YT shorts πŸ€£πŸ«—
Okay I built it! 🍰 Infinite Slop levels.io/infinite-slop An infinite and interactive AI generated live stream of slop that goes on forever and ever Anything that you write in the chat is generated next and AI will try to connect it to the previous video so there's an actual sequence and story line Idea by @marcantoinefon and @rehan_shei's original stream so I made it It'd be very expensive to run this so @fal very generously sponsors this They also fine-tuned the model that makes this possible for the first time, making Minimax H3 50x faster and as "Max" and it can now generate videos faster than you can watch them, very cool! Let me know what you think!!!! 😊

Just found out Receita Federal only processes 15 CPF applications a day. You have to rock up at 8am and pray you’re in the first 15 before they shut the door at 8:30. Cannot make this shit up 🀣
So far in my quest to get a CPF, Banco do Brasil has told me β€œthe system is down”, Correios has charged me R$7 to fill out a form I already filled out for free online, and Receita Federal has told me they’re closed and to come back Monday. Efficient.
