I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.

Here's a twist on Canadian legend @Alanis's "Ironic" (who was fab when one of us saw her live last month) - in an acoustic version that addresses Trump's #tradewar with Canada and his attempted renaming of Lake Ontario. It's called "Moronic" 🎶 - lyrics: youtu.be/Y6OGKFQBG7s

The name Lake Ontario comes from the Wendat word Ontari’io, which, appropriately, means “the lake is beautiful, the lake is big”.
The name is more than 400 years old, predating both the Confederation of Canada and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America.
We know that America is changing. Their trading relationships, their foreign policies, their national monuments, their hydronyms.
Canadians also know that naming reality means calling it Lake Ontario – then, now and always.

“I feel sorry for Americans. If you can’t be friends with Canada, then you almost certainly do not have a friend anywhere in the world. And that is a very lonely place to be.”

"The first emotion I feel is frustration about the issues raised in this discussion — decision-makers who don't believe the data, healthcare silos, and individual jurisdictions. What I'm gathering is that there needs to be a national coming-together, with a comprehensive approach to how these decisions are made. At the end of the day, it's not fair." — @steveslacker, Patient

Incredible news, and a huge win for Ontarians! Outstanding advocacy work by @ccranorg over the past 6 years to shine a light on this issue and help bring this much needed change to fruition!
Ontario is lowering the colorectal cancer screening age to 45, effective July 1, 2026 — a life-saving step forward that we've been advocating for since 2020. We call on all remaining provinces and territories to follow suit. 💙
